Re: Credit Card Chargeback

Most of the time, chargebacks are resolved in favor of the BUYER. Why? Because the buyer files with his bank, and the bank has the final decision on the chargeback. Since the buyer is their customer, they usually side with them UNLESS there is proof of buyer fraud.

All you can do is provide whatever evidence you have of the order. If the buyer paid for website design, for example, you could provide a screenshot of your work along with the website information. That does not mean that their bank will side with you, but it at least shows PayPal that you ARE providing a legitimate service.

Chargebacks are usually rare for me. So all I can give you is generic advice for avoiding them. I think the number one thing you can do is to make sure that the buyer understands exactly what he is buying. When you get the order, write up a description of the services you will provide, in detail and send it to him via email. That way, if he claims he thought he was getting something that you never intended to provide, you can show them the email. Again, this is not 100% protection, but it couldn't hurt.

Paypal recently closed on a chargeback against me as well...Buyer claimed with his bank about 2 months after receiving the item... the reason was that the item was damaged...sadly, it was not qualify under PP seller protection...

Re: Credit Card Chargeback

y had a chargeback with paypal that was filed 4.5 months after the transaction - and shockingly paypal decided it in my favor. Provided them with tracking information and they came back a week later with the message the funds were again released and the case was closed in my favor.
Never saw anything like that before.
