Does DNS make any difference ?

I couldn't search for this as DNS is too short a word for the search engine, apologies if it has been asked before.

I want to use DNS Jumper 2 to get a quicker speed, if I leave it connected to a US or other country DNS will this be picked up by PayPal as though I am in another country ? Or is the DNS ignored ? I know obviously your IP is used for location.

Thanks.

Why make your life harder? Use OpenDNS or Google's DNS

Agreed, just go with Google DNS

Thanks, but this is what I am asking, would using GoogleDNS (or any other country DNS), which is based in US, affect me in the UK with PayPal ? I am a bit confused by the life harder comment, as this is exactly what I am asking, using another DNS. For instance Google DNS shows up as fastest, but it is in the US. I am in the UK. Would PayPal notice this and lock down my account ?

Re: Does DNS make any difference ?

I wouldn't see why they would? Custom DNS settings are not uncommon. However, they are known to test the DNS port to see if your native IP is different than the one you're projecting via the HTTP port to detect proxy usage. But, I don't see what that'd have to do with using a different DNS as your packets aren't actually going through the DNS, just the initial DNS request to resolve the domain's IP adadress. Paypal doesn't see this initial DNS request, as far I'm aware, as that request is between you and the DNS.

"Hey, where's paypal.com?" you ask the DNS.
DNS responds, "it's xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx".
Paypal never hears the conversation.

No you wont have any issues using Google DNS, millions of people use it from all around the world, would be dumb for them to be assume anything negative based on Google DNS
