PayPal can detect if yours is a VCC. What to do next?
 

Hi All.

I managed to get a Stealth Account verified and submitted invoice to get everything all settled. See what PayPal emailed me below. In this case, I believe PayPal does know that I am using VCC to verify my account. Do you think I should stop using VCC?

PayPal does not recommend adding a gift card, prepaid card, virtual card, or one time use credit cards to your PayPal account as a funding source. Although some of these cards may be accepted, most will not function correctly with our system due to the security checks we have in place. PayPal is not an online store, where these types of cards were intended to be used, and in order to properly facilitate our service, the traditional credit card or debit card is preferred.



We have disabled your virtual card ending 22XX.

Of course they know it's a VCC.

The first 6 digits of the card number (known as the BIN - Bank Identification Number) indicate what card it is and who issued it.

At the moment VCCs are accepted by the Paypal system. As you have found out they can be removed during a manual review of your account.

Do you know the bank who issued it? Metabank is a popular bank VCC online.

Looks like one of MakerViets. Though he does have multiple options for VCCs. Xenix has Russian VCCs which are nice and uncommon.

Every popular GiftCard is already overabused at PP. Some of them can be still used for verification purposes, but can't be added for a long time, as they remove them like in your letter. So, you need to find a decent source of unused cards.

Xenix has Russian VCCs which are nice and uncommon

For the above Russian VCCs, wont Paypal know its a Russian VCC and I am making Singaporean Paypal Accounts?

It also depends on the account. Plenty of accounts with gift cards survive for a long time. If you are not causing PayPal any problems, then they probably will not bother you.

The fact is, PayPal has the ability to stop accepting ALL gift cards and VCC's at any time and they HAVE had that ability for quite awhile. The reason they are allowing them is because doing so is PROFITABLE. And they are not going to kill a profitable segment of business unless they absolutely have to. For now, they are content to root out the users that are causing problems, or that they are looking into closely for other reasons.

I have had PayPal accounts survive for more than 5 years with a gift card attached.

Yes they will but action would only possibly be taken during a manual review of your account. Even then it isn't a certainty that the VCC would be removed.

By the way, PP can't see the exact "physical" type of the card. They continuously monitor fresh BINs, but if it is very fresh and not over-abused, they wont have any details on the exact type of the card (CC/VCC).

VCC is a very common method of paying for things on the net nowadays, nothing wrong with it, it actually will become even bigger as people want to protect their card details and that is exactly what a VCC does.

PayPal shouldn't be removing them just because its a VCC
