Why do people think PayPal cannot check the name of your bank? They did it to me.
 

PayPal once called my bank to verify the name matched with them.

Not sure why people think they don't. Popular myth?

They obviously have no automated system in place for it (since every bank is different to begin with)..

Seriously I dont think the bank will or should release such "private" details to Paypal.

This is against some privacy laws.

Banks generally do not give out information about account holders unless there is some sort of fraud investigation going on. I don't know your personal situation, so I am NOT implying that you were committing fraud. But there was SOMETHING that caused PayPal to call your bank in the first place - they do not normally do this - and also SOMETHING that must have been going on for your bank to release this information.

If you are following proper stealth techniques, this most likely would not have happened. It is not normal.

So because this happened to you....it means were all doomed? I hardly think so! I've been using mismatch name deposit bank accounts since I joined this forum and yet to have my bank(s) get called by PayPal.

So....when a few hundred or more have this issue....then we can talk.
