PayPal can't confirm names on debit cards or bank accounts?

I know PayPal writes if the names on your debit card or bank account don't match, the funds will be returned, etc. But I've used a debit card with PayPal in the past of my wife for my own account and it worked without any problems, got the withdrawals, confirmed it, etc.

So ...they really have no way of confirming the cardholder's name or the bank account holder's name, right?

Nope, not really.

Actually they do. If your debit card name doesn't match they'll eventually catch you and either remove the card or possible even limit your account. It's happened to quite a number of ppl.

Actually I did read something about this. They try to verify your card identity through the merchant. I haven't heard it happening to a lot of people though. Only a couple so far.

I was under the impression that Paypal currently does not cross-check names on checking accounts. I verified my account using a real checking account tied to my real name. This seems to work fine so far.

However, I haven't moved any money back into my checking account yet. Are you saying that somehow the money will get rejected and Paypal will be notified that the account name does not match?

I don't recall ever submitting a hard copy to them, although I might have given them my SS# a long time ago and I have a verified premier account.

I have never had (knock on wood now) an issue withdrawing over $500/mo like I have heard so often here.
