Default can they get the money?

sold something for $300 and the buyer opened a dispute. The account has new details. The bank account, credit card, and phone number that were connected were all closed & removed. There's no money in the Paypal so what will happen if the claim is won in his favor?

They will send you a few emails to cover your negative balance and so forth.. They pretty much cant do anything to you though.

Nope, your money is safe. After a couple of months if you don't bring your account balance out of the negative, paypal will turn the "debt" you supposedly owe them over to one of their collection agencies. Assuming you used a made up name at an address other than your own, you have nothing to worry about. Paypal will just be wasting their time trying to collect money from a non existent person.

alright. This guy that bought this seems pretty pissed off making threats and what not. I made sure to close the bank account, delete the phone number, and delete the credit card before it got limited.

Was this on a stealth account or was this account made with your real info? Was the credit card with your real info? I have heard rumors of paypal withdrawing money from peoples bank accounts or charging their credit cards to raise their PP account out of the red, but in my personal experience this has never happened. I always just got sent to collections if my account was negative for to long. The reports I read of PP taking money out of peoples bank accounts to raise their PP to zero were all from websites such as paypalsucks.com and others who have a vested interest in turning consumers away from paypal. I would like to hear from members on here if anyone has had paypal touch their bank account without their permission? After some research it would appear that this would be illegal but we all know Paypal doesn't play by the rules... I am reffering only to paypal taking money to raise your account out of negative, not to pay ebay fees because I know from experience they can and WILL do that.

Paypal did do this in the early days, but then got sued and paid a big settlement while admitting no wrongdoing. Now they probably would do it only under extreme circumstances, but I still would not put it past them.
