Does anyone try the braintree sandbox to receive payment from buyers? Looks like it can accept paypal and credit card both.

I do operate in some marketplaces that do use them though for normal credit card processing. I'd say it's similar to Stripe.

is it anymore risk then paypal though?

I see Bonanza webshops offer them as an option. I do some business on Bonanza. Approx 2000 sales a year through paypal. It would be nice addition for people who just want to use credit Cards..... Sadly Bonanza gives webshops give no other options.

It seems connected to PayPal's backend in a way (of course it's a PayPal company).

I'd say it's riskier than PayPal on it's own.

Braintree asks for a lot of upfront information before approving your account. And they're not stealth friendly but I have yet to try.
