There is a decision made across the board that all PayPal merchants receiving payments from sales of Hoverboards aka Electronic Scooters will be placed additional reserves on their account.

Currently my account is being placed GBP300,000.00 jump start reserve and a whopping 90 days 32% rolling reserve. 80% of my daily processed volume will moved to pending balance until GBP300,000.00 minimum reserved amount is met.

How crazy is this? I know this affect all sellers of electronic scooters but any of you manage to negotiate for reduction?

Please advise.

The reason for this is the wide spread reports of them being so dangerous at the moment

You can try to negotiate this down, but you would have to so directly with PayPal

Yes but not every seller supply dodgy scooters. Ours are CE approved design with fuse on wall plug and comes with Samsung battery. The decision is made by the Global Risk team, local account manager as well as Risk team has no authority to alter this decision. I believe many eBay sellers that is involved in the electronic scooters will have a hard time going through this crisis. Basically PayPal is going to assess how many scooters payment you have received and that amount will be put to minimum reserves so they can safeguard themselves.

good luck, I read amazon refunded everyone who had bought one with the sellers money in the uk lol

The price. Especially with Chinese cutting corners and making bargain bin models. They may catch on fire, but all that matters is sell in high volume, ride the wave of the fad then disappear and move on to the next "hot" product.

Ive sold these in the past (4 months ago). Hopefully no retrospective reserve is placed on my account.

Should I close my paypal just incase?

The same reason why people buy cars. It's just another mode of around-the-neighborhood transportation on the lower end of the price/performance spectrum, and many people have been pushed into that sector due to the economy in recent years. (It also doesn't hurt that many cost less than $200, well within the range of many a teenager's budgets.)

these seem to be super popular. almost accidentally ran over a few people in my neighborhood riding on one of these things :rant:

Feel kind of lucky I didn't go ahead with the container of these I was considering, even the bad press would have a massive effect on sales.

I got 11 as samples and have struggled to even sell them offline.

everyone and their mom was selling them. market was saturated not sure about now tho... few weeks ago seen a dude selling them outside a corner store lol...

Saw some sellers pre-selling on ebay with a delivery date before x-mas for quite cheap, to obviously raise the money for a large order from China, I read a lot have been seized at the border, wonder if any of those sellers lost out.

Hangzhou Chic Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. was actually the original manufacturer, and own the patents for the technology.

But as China being China its no surprise as soon as they grew popular factories all over where selling cheaper/unsafe knock offs
