Does SSN Request Reset On January 1st?
 

Received a request for SSN / EIN. Account has only had 115 transactions and about $8000 in sales this year. I don't think the account is "limited", as it never said a limitation was placed on my account. However it does pop up with the notification to submit SSN or upgrade to business account and provide EIN, every time I log in.

Will this request go away on January 1st? I have read that it will...then others say it won't.

Tax limits appear to reset on the 1st of January....

Keep in mind the request covers whatever paypal want to comply with IRS rulings.

It is not limited to SSN nor EIN...

Sure it is. If your US account is limited because of the IRS requirement your options are provide an SSN or EIN, or wait until next year.

@OP, paypal is probably requesting your info because of the $8k in sales. How old is the account? If their algorithm projects that you may cross the IRS threshold soon, you are automatically prompted for tax reporting info.

I meant you have the option of SSN or EIN, thus not limited for choices.

I clicked the second option "provide EIN"...it says that it will make me upgrade to a business account in order to provide EIN. Well, when I try to upgrade, it then says I CAN'T upgrade because the account is limited. Then it has a message saying I can call paypal and they can "resolve the issue". Soooo wtf!?
