"Let Me Just Click This Button" : A Paypal Story

I've had a pending balance for quite some time and could never figure out why. All of my transactions had shown "completed", nothing showings "funds not available yet". All of my items had been delivered, all buyers have left positive feedback, etc. So, I decided to call Paypal and see what transaction was pending and why.

Took the rep a few minutes, but he found the transaction...from October. After talking with him, he said he had no idea why it was still pending and that it should have been released after 21 days, even if there was no tracking info or anything. Mind you, this buyer already left positive feedback in October, and YES it should have been available 3 days after that...or even if I had to wait 21 days that would've been OK. Not 80+ days, which is weird.

Anyway, the rep told me he would be able to release the funds since it had been so long and there were no issues (such as a case opened), etc. He LITERALLY says "let me just click this release button here....OK, now the funds are available in your account." What else can they do with "just a click of a button"? Limit your account? SURE!

Point of this story...I find it so funny that he let me know he was going to click the "release funds" button. We always talk about Paypal and Ebay just clicking buttons that will affect your account, and it is absolutely true.

Im not surprised.
Its all automated and Ive seen it happen before. On EBay's side as well. Youll be amazed at the things they can do with the click of a button.

The have to do this because there's too many users out there. They don't have time to take their time.

Of course! I just found it funny that he would say it out loud and it confirmed something we have all known...click of a button. We make fun of it, but it is nothing but true.

i used to call in all the time begging them to release funds for me before the 21 days. sometimes they would release and other times they would pretend they couldn't. i'm sure each rep has a quota to meet.
