Tracking numbers

Hey, does anyone know if I were to pay for postage on a stealth pypl account (comes with a tracking number) and use that same postage with tracking number to ship out an item on another pypl account, would it link them?

I may have tried that before without an repercussions, but I want to make sure. Any ideas?

Re: Tracking numbers

I wouldnt try that myself.
Might work once or twice but will eventually fail.
I know for a fact you cannot enter the same tracking number into ebay more than once and that to me indicates that they do keep track of those numbers.

Re: Tracking numbers

Well basically, this is what I did. I sold an item on EB and received the funds on PYPL account 'A'. I then bought a postage label on PYPL account 'B'. So the tracking number on the postage label isn't being used for tracking an item, but it is in their system.

I was just trying to see if they would be picky enough to link accounts 'A' aNd 'B' based on that.

o_O :hail:
how did you pay for a label on paypal B, did you use a third party site?
and why didnt you use pay for it with paypal A?

Re: Tracking numbers

Nah I had funds in account B from a previous sale. I couldn't pay for the postage on account A because the funds were on hold due to that EB selling hold.

Oh and I did NOT add the tracking number to account A yet. That's why I was asking on here. But knowing those jackasses over at PYPL, they probably would link it, so I''m not going to add that tracking, just simply mark it as shipped.

Re: Tracking numbers

eBay should have let you pay later, so pretty much you use paypal B to pay for something on Ebay A/ Paypal A?

that pay later option is not always there for some off reason.

Nah I just paid for shipping on PYPL B.

You can pay for postage labels on PYPL without buying anything on EB.

And yeah, that pay later option isn't always available.

Re: Tracking numbers

Stamps.com - not free
Endicia.com - free

Well, neither are free since you still have to pay for postage. But Endicia does not have a subscription fee, as far as I know

Using one of those services would remove the complexity. Fund your account, then print postage for all your accounts. Centralized postage helps A TON with managing multiple accounts

What is the most convenient to use? Will they link accounts?

Re: Tracking numbers

I honestly can't say which service is better because I started out with Stamps.com and I've never tried Endicia. Both sites do the same thing but Stamps.com has a lot of extra features. They let you order Priority shipping supplies in bulk (for free), rather than ordering boxes 5 at a time from USPS.com. That's probably my favorite feature.

As far as linking, it hasn't been a problem. My accounts are based in 8 different states and I print postage for all of them one account after another. So tracking numbers are similar between accounts.

Plus the stamps.com PC application makes postage a breeze. Batch printing allows you to put all your addresses in and print at once. I use legal size paper, because I can fit 4 labels on one piece of paper.

I guess the only downside is having to manually enter tracking numbers rather than eBay shipping filling all that out for you. But, still way worth it in my opinion. Try it out, you won't regret it.
