| omsachdev | 01-15-2016 02:15 PM | 4800$ negative balance Hello All,
I am in a big trouble.
Over the last 2 months I sold 7 smart phones to a buyer in Azerbaijan Republic.
I sold them using paypal invoice only and not through ebay to avoid ebay charges.
Based on buyer's request I sent the items only using USPS first class international as priority is subjected to custom checking.
Now this buyer opened claims in paypal saying that item was never received and unfortunately USPS international tracking is available only until shipment reaches Jamaica NY.
Paypal sided with buyer and now my account is in negative 4800$
This is a huge amount. I am in USA and they have my ssn on file.
Is there any way to fight this? Can I opt to not pay?
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. |

Just for future reference always always send items with full door to door tracking with a signature. While this does not always stop a scam, you can at least fight your corner then
This debit is going to need to be paid one way or another.
Even if they did not have your SSN on file this sort of debt PayPal WILL chase you down for
You can talk to PayPal and see if there is any way you can appeal. You are also going to want to make sure that those phones get bricked |

| GreenBean | 01-15-2016 05:02 PM | Re: 4800$ negative balance Not smart to sell to overseas.
Not smart to try to bypass ebay just to save some bucks.
For $4800 you sound like you were trying to best the buyer.... Were the smartphones gold plated?
What smartphone is worth US$600, allowing for shipping to the end of the world?
Did you keep a record of the smart phones IEMI.
Get the smartphones zapped.
Consider legal advice. |

Re: 4800$ negative balance Welcome to the forums OP - sadly you have been owned by Azerbajian Republic. Best of luck with your decision moving forward - few posts have given you options.
PP has your SSN on file - your credit may be affected if PP decides to take action. |

-Paypal will absolutely come after you for debt |

There are so many red flags with the whole case, I'm surprised you actually managed to process the orders.
First, the country where the buyer is from, second the PP invoices and NOT eBay transaction and then the shipping method.
I get weird feeling in my buttcheeks if my customers wants a £50 item sent NOT tracked in UK- I cover the £1 from my own pocket, as I trust my buttcheeks.
You have shipped nearly 5k worth of electronics to a country that is... Well, a questionable at least. https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/i...gPG3FI3XDDh11A
Perhaps contact Paypal, as you have your SSN connected the the account and explain what has happened and ask for advice. The negative balane will come out of someone, at the moment you are first in line. |

me either but that was for about 1500+ idk about 5,000 | They will do everything in their power to collect this debt, $4800 is a lot of money. If paypal can't get you to pay they will refer the debt to collection agencies, then your credit will be impacted if you don't pay. Paypal is a business. They handle a lot of money, but no business can afford to just give away $5k. If they made no efforts to collect debt they would have gone out of business a while back.
@progetter - If you owe P/P $1500 they will be coming after you too if they can. If they have any of your actual info, they will do whatever they can to recover their loss. |

Under normal circumstances the debt would be referred to a collections agency called "NCO financial". I've done some reading around and NCO financial will send you mail, call you, even threaten to sue if the balance is big enough, just like any other collections agency. Before paypal refers the case to collections, they've been known to overdraft bank accounts by attempting to pull out owed funds.
Regardless, I'm not trying to start an argument. I was just pointing out that (usually) paypal will go to great lengths to get money owed. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:58 PM. | |
