Friends & Family Payments

Hi everyone!

So I got this one friend that is going to buy some stuff off me...

I need to buy the item after he pays me, so I was wondering if it would be okay to receive a payment through 'Friends and family' option? The payment is going to be about $1400. I just get a fee out of the total sale, and I might be doing this 5 or 6 times... I thought it would be much easier to get the money straight on my PayPal account since im going to use it to pay for the item im buying for him!

In case that wouldnt be very smart... What could I do to not raise red flags? Get the money transferred to the credit card or bank account and pay it or what?

Thanks again! :)

well that is a horrible idea of using friends and family, and the amount is :mod:

In that case you should take the cash and put it in your bank account and make the purchases.

I knew it was a ridiculous question but I just wanted to know how to do it...

So should I take the cash and then pay for the item? When paying for something or sending money through PayPal where should I take the money from? Credit card or bank account?
My account its created with all my friends details unless the bank account.

Thanks :)

:d yeah go knock on his door collect the cash. Then insert it into your bank account and make sure that bank is connected to your papal account. Then Buy everything you need via YOUR bank account attached to YOUR payapl.

Dont do that much money with friends and family payment.

If the person is located far away, maybe they can send the money by western union or any other money transfer service. Then buy the item(s) with your credit card.

So can I buy stuff with no fears getting the money from the bank account thats linked to my PayPal? Will they not see the mismatched name? Cause the bank account thats linked to withdraw money its mine.

So what I basically have to do is to insert money in the bank account that my friends credit card is on right?

Excuse me for my ignorance! Thanks for the help!

Yeah, don't use PayPal for this transaction. I've collected several large payments as Friends and Family to get around the fees. Ecspecially when talking about $1,000+. It never has ended well for me, they get very nosey and would like to know everything. It isn't worth the investigation. If the person is outside of your country I would try Xoom, or Western Union like someone mentioned above. Google Wallet has done well for me with transactions like this.

Re: Friends & Family Payments

It could work if you would transfer that amount in several transactions (different amounts) over some longer period of time...
But even then you can't be guaranteed.

So I suggest paying via CC. :)

Wow! Just not right or true.

If he sends multiple friends and family payments between the same paypal accounts they will see a links and ban them all!

Re: Friends & Family Payments

OP why are you making this your problem?

Let your "friend" make or use his own paypal account and buy his own items.
You are causing yourself problems where there doesnt need to be any.

I agree with Bunneh. It isn't worth the hassle of shifting that much money around to buy something for him. I would assume he isn't capable of buying the items because of some reason either he can't from his country or whatever. If you must do it then collect the money without PayPal. It's too risky for most likely not enough profit.

Friends and Family is a horrible way that PayPal will link and limit accounts together, regardless of reasoning.
