Will paypal get smart

So i was thinking why doesn't paypal ask licence or other form of ID when you first sign up for their service. For example in Australia when you register a prepaid sim it asks for ID and they check the ID through a verification process where they are instantly told if ID matches.

Why isn't paypal doing this for all accounts?

Will the day come and all our hard work goes in the bin?

Thoughts?

Emm, this would limit the amount of new sign-ups to PayPal dramatically. It's like why Facebook doesn't ask for ID or Gmail, etc. PayPal isn't a bank. They want new members but they also want to prevent abuse. What they're doing now is a good compromise.

It's not in PayPal's best interest to further increase requirements which will in the long run hurt it's bottom line.

Dude we have not only to show our id but also verify new prepaid sim with thumb impression. Sometime rules get strict.

You give them that right on signing up.

If you don't like it, use another payment gateway. Oh wait......:violin:

Can't get my head round it either, If I wasn't such a nice honest person I'd just rip them off for £100k a month with little effort.
Even dating websites are harder to stealth just because they don't want people spamming but paypal a money processor is easy
