Paypal Asking for SSN when Upgraded to Business Account
 

Hi Everyone,

I recently upgraded my Stealth PayPal which is a year old To A business account, now its asking to provide my Social Security and Date Of Birth, I even tried updating my bank account to withdraw funds and im still getting the same message,

I have an order that a buyer placed and i cant even view the transaction because the same message keeps coming up, would i be ok if i just entered an EIN Number in with my real date of birth?

Did they just ask for the SSN?

What was the actual notice, please?

yes just SSN and date of Birth,

didn't receive an email or anything,

just says "The Patriot Act requires all financial institutions to ask for your Social Security number and confirm your identity to help prevent money laundering."

I can't even refund a buyer if i needed to, when i click on the transaction, it asks for SSN and date of birth, not sure what to do.

this happens when you upgrade to a business account too early

wait until they ASK you to provide tax info, but before they limit your account for not providing it.

have a EIN handy ahead of time

So am I still able to use the account now?

Could I just enter an EIN number where the SSN goes?

Newbie here trying to get back on...

this is what I worry about. ebay and pp asking for things you cannot provide with a stealth account.

like picture id, bank statement with matching name, etc. it just seems very risky and then the 21 day holds. pp could put your account on hold and keep your money.

maybe I will be more comfortable after doing some further reading.

well i put the last 4 numbers of my EIN and used my real date of birth. i also changed my business name to match the business name on the PayPal account.

after i clicked submit, it let me add a bank account and view transactions. hope it lasts.

They are now wanting the following info:

Upload a photo ID
Provide proof of your address
Provide your business information
Provide proof of shipping
Provide invoice
