PayPal doesn't require tracking number to release funds
 

It seems PayPal release the funds after 7 days after being marked 'sent'. Instead of releasing 3 days when the tracking number shows the package has been received.

We’ve been dealing with online payments for years and we’ve realised that it helps to prevents losses, by keeping your money secure. It also makes buyers feel safer and more likely to return and purchase again.

Typically, you’ll have access to these pending payments after:

7 calendar days of the estimated delivery date, if you mark the item as sent in your eBay account, or
21 calendar days, if you don’t mark the item as sent in your eBay account

This is nothing new.
They still prefer to see a tracking number and it does help with the level of trust you can gain with both ebay and paypal - especially when it comes to overcoming the 21 days hold.

Well you are kinda misunderstanding the information you just posted.

According to your info it is not 7 days after being marked as sent. It is 7 days after estimated delivery date(received). Two completely different things.

Sorry misread the information, but still PayPal seems to have given up on the idea of releasing funds according to tracking numbers.

And as my delivery times are next day delivery I am just wondering when did they stop accepting tracking numbers to release funds 3 days after as this was not a problem a few weeks ago

IDK tbh paypal is a law upon itself. The only thing about Royal Mail tracking numbers is that the signature and received confirmation is not uploaded on far too many occasions for my liking, especially if picked up from a sorting office.

Fair enough, I called in and PayPal said 'that due to recent eBay losses' they were instructed to release funds after 7 days after the estimated delivery date.

What was worryingly amusing was when I said that I hadn't posted the order yet the guy on the phone told me to mark it as sent anyway to get the funds released earlier ^^

This appears to be UK only? Or is this a policy that's being implemented in the US?

Would explain why I'm having trouble releasing funds.. They're not "automatically" releasing when they're supposed to.

Not sure, in the UK they're baseing their 'funds release' time 7 days from the estimated delivery date. My orders are next day delivery so I get the funds 8 days after sale, even if the package's are late.
