Chances of winning dispute when NOT using EBay

Hey guys as you know if you're selling digital products OR even physical products on ebay, buyer can start a dispute regarding item not as describe or item not received.

BUT if we're using os commerce or other shopping cart to sell, what are the chances of seller winning the dispute especially for digital downloads? Comparing.....Will Paypal place the same priority as when u sell it on EBay?

Thx

Wouldnt this then be considered a service/goods if im not mistaken??

back in '06 when i was scammed i was told by Paypal that they could do nothing about SNAD disputes ...

1 thing here is that i DID tell them that i met the person from ebay... this could of been the differentiating factor

What's SNAD? :D

Ok, but that person can still file a dispute, that means PP will still investigate?

yaw1800 02-20-2009 09:34 PM

significantly not as described

or something like that...

Paypal will investigate but from my experience they decided in the sellers favor...

i've played this from both sides of the field:

i lost money because the person sent me garbage (investigated, claim closed within minutes)

i lost money because the person filed a chargeback (no investigation)

You lost money, but are u a seller or buyer?

yaw1800 02-20-2009 11:32 PM

i have had experience with both, which is why i noted that i've played this from both sides of the field....

Non-eBay:

SNAD claims will be closed after review 100% of the time

eBay:

SNAD will 97% of the time be decide din buyers favor

One time I think you could lose is if the buyer paid with a credit card through Paypal. Then Paypal would have to comply with the CC issuer.

Maybe I am lost here, but if you are using OS Commerce and a Merchant account, there is no PayPal payment. Hence, no dispute could be filed. You might get a charge-off, but much less likely than a dispute.
