eBay requires Paypal on eBay UK!!

I saw this in today's edition of the TAGnotes email.. haven't been able to confirm it anywhere else yet though. Scary if it really is true!

EBAY REQUIRES PAYPAL ON EBAY UK
************************************************** **********
ebaY UK is now requiring that sellers use PayPal as the sole payment method for the
category Video Games: Consoles and that sellers offer PayPal for the categories
Video Games and Health & Beauty.

This is bad news for all sellers for several reasons. ebaY uses the UK to test things
they want to implement on the US and other sites. If they get away with it in the UK,
they feel they can get away with it everywhere. This is a big step in the
monopolistic practices we warned the Dept of Justice and Securities and Exchange
Commission about, when ebaY was allowed to buy PayPal. ebaY will keep pushing
this until only PayPal is allowed for payment on ebaY.

ebaY claims this is to help protect buyers against fraud, but who is going to protect
the seller and buyer from ebaY/PayPal perpetrated fraud?

ebay doesn't give a crap about fraud.

My account (100 feedbacks, 100%) was shut down 2 weeks ago only hours after I shipped out the last item that I had sold ($150). If I had wanted to screw the buyer I could have and since I was at that point "no longer a registered user" ebay would not have helped the buyer. On the other hand if I was waiting for delivery of something I would be SOL.

I received a message through my messages from a buyer from a couple of monthes ago who needs help with an item. Well, I can't reply to him (only was able to read the message through my regular email when it was sent to me) and I couldn't find his real email through PP to answer his questions directly. So now he is probably SOL on a $200 purchase because EB finally figured out that I sold a knockoff lighter a year ago. Yes they are really looking out for the consumer.

They act all high and mighty like they are trying to avoid people getting ripped off and other scams, but they don't want to make anything right if it requires anything other than bot-generated email responses..
