Website Payment Withheld by PayPal (No Ebay!)
 

I am selling through my own website and created a legit PayPal Business account, with real name, real documents etc.

Last night, a customer placed a big order...something around $400+ (bigger than the usual order I receive which has an average of $30; he ordered 28 items...they usually order 1-2 items...).

Now PayPal is withholding the funds from this customer for 21 days, saying something like 'eBay non-performer'. I don't understand why they do this, as this is the exact sh*t that made me avoid selling through eBay and started my own website.

If I upload the tracking number and if the customer feedback is OK (where will they see the customer feedback because this is not eBay we're talking about), the funds might be released earlier. I don't have a problem uploading the trucking number but:

1. What if I have multiple tracking numbers (I am not sure my supplier will be able to deliver the entire order through a single shipmentb ecause this order is quite big)

2. What should I do in order to avoid this sh*tty situation in the future?

You can't avoid this. Anytime you receive a payment larger than your average payment size, there is a chance of this happening. One of my Paypal's has received over $400k in the past year, and I still get these "ebay non-performer" holds on certain large transactions.

It's never a big deal for me.. I just wait for the funds to clear.

If you have multiple tracking numbers, just upload one of them to Paypal. Paypal doesn't give you the option to add multiple tracking numbers like Ebay does.

You're right. I guess I just have to increase my rolling reserve

Some other guys have bigger problems with PayPal withholding money....I guess I can't complain right now :)
