Long time PP Business Account Suddenly Have 21 Day Hold??
 

I have a business Paypal account which I use a few times a month with my EIN attached. I use it for larger transactions ($2000-4000). I never had a problem, now today I suddenly received the email:

Payments you receive from buyers are now in your pending balance and temporarily unavailable.

If you do nothing, this money will automatically be moved to your available balance and released to you in 21 days (as long as there are no problems with your orders).

Why?
It looks like you have a limited buying or selling history with PayPal. To protect buyers and sellers in the PayPal community, we have a 21-day delay.

I'd understand if this was a new Paypal account but this account has been consistently used for 3 years and is completely verified with no issues.

Is this a standard policy Paypal is doing now with all their accounts? Or is this just my account and I'm being flagged for whatever reason?

Remember - 21 days hold can come and go at any time.

Have you had a spike in sales recently? or have any sales patterns changed?

SO annoying! I've had holds go on active, consistently selling accounts with no holds for over 6 months... I've noticed that even switching categories of items will cause the system to reinstate the hold. Like if I go from selling 12 $200 baby car seats a week to selling 12 $200 end tables, just changing the category of item I'm selling, that can do it. Or sometimes if the same person buys three of an item from me 5 minutes apart, that person's payments are sometimes held and none other. The smallest thing can trigger it, and I'm sure 90% or better is automatic.

The good news is that it's not usually (in my experience, however) indicative of anything bad coming, as long as I ship quick and enter the tracking info, it eventually falls off again, so don't despair! But I know first hand how frustrating it is to happen out of the blue, don't always count on the funds from the things you sell to always be available right away.

Its just one of those things that can happen sometimes.

Provide a good service and the holds will drop off again

Sometimes you get holds just for very tiny % of transactions.
If you provide good service and it was no major changes, should not to be worried.
most likely will go away very soon or even after few transactions

Unless something has changed significantly in the way you operate or the amounts received this could be a paypal glitch.
As mentioned above these holds can come and go without notice or specific reason. Provide good service and keep doing thing properly and these holds should disappear again.

Category change and quantity bought by buyers I've experienced to cause holds...
