Skylineman | 06-12-2016 06:20 AM | Opening a US Bank from Overseas?! Hey,
I'm in the need of an US Bank account. Do you know if there's any US bank that can open an checking account for me without a SSN? I have an US mailing address and I can send them my documents by mail, certify by a notary or anything...
Thanks in advance,
Marcell |

I am not an expert on this, but I have heard of foreign citizens signing up for US accounts if they come here with their passport and meet the banker in person. Of course, this was a few years ago, regulations may have changed since then. |

Marcell | You can open one up. Even with just a passport in the USA if you stay over there for a long amount of time like 6 months, even students with a visa may open one up but they'll copy the passport. There are tons of ways of doing this.
But for you opening up a business with a TAX ID # is the way to go for your business.
You may open one up online, and so on. No clue if you must be there in person or not. Some allow this, some don't. etc. |

But if there is a way, you would also need to file articles of incorporation for your business in a USA state before you'd be eligible for a business bank account. |

I would start by researching the bigger banks in your country. Most larger bank have operations in the US and if they do you might be able to open an account through them.
Also, check if international bank - such as HSBC - operate in your country because those always have an operation in the US and if you an account with them in your own county and have a decent history with them they also might allow you to open a US based account through them. | All times are GMT -5.
