Default How to get a DBA

Got it Aspkin, thanks...that sound the easiet for me!

Only other question I have is setting-up a DBA...been researching and Legal-Zoom wants $100 for that!

Actually, this re-invention can cost some $$$$, not that it's not worth it, and of course, you can go the cheap rout...but by the time you 1) get a new computer (what I wish to do in my case...) new router, DBA, UPS box...necessary gift-cards, and whatever else I'm forgetting, you can easily spend $500+++

Again, I think it's well-worth it...in fact, I'd never try to sell again without such re-invention...and you can do it "on-the-cheap"...

So, DBA's anyone?

DBA is easy to do. You can do it yourself at your county, city, or town Hall of Records or similar agency.

Details differ since it's a local thing but where I live it is just a one page or two form that you get at your County Clerk's office. You fill it out and pay a 50 dollar filing fee and that's it.

Some places call it a "fictitious name registration" but it's the same thing.

Google "business registration" and the name of your city or county and see what you get - it should get you AT LEAST the info on how to do it and perhaps a printable form or maybe even an online real time registration form.

GOOD LUCK!~

You should be able to do it yourself and online. Fees vary from state to state. Mine was $50.

A new computer is not necessary.

Thanks everyone for the informative replies; I'm seeing that in my home-state of TN, this is their position on DBA's:

Tennessee Tennessee does not require registration or filing of DBAs or fictitious names for sole proprietorships and general partnerships. Corporations, LLCs, LLPs, and limited partnerships register an assumed name as part of their required business filings with the Tennessee Secretary of State."

---So, if they don't require such for sole-proprietorships, which mine would be...then how do I "authenticate" opening-up a new savings acc. with a new name...DBA?

A bit confused....thanks to all replies!
