Buyer chargeback but ebay cancelled order 8 days after purchase date
 

K, so this will be a fun one. This morning I received an email from PayPal saying a buyer had opened a card unauthorized charge back case for an order that was purchased on the 12th May.

The phone was was sent and delivered and I have provided the tracking number to PayPal showing the phone was delivered and signed for. They said they might also need the postage receipt which I don't have as the order was over a month ago.

The problem is that when I went on eBay to check the transaction I found an email dated on the 20th May from eBay saying that the listing was being removed because of an 'MC067 Suspicious buyer activity' 8 days after the transaction and the phone was posted. The buyers account has also been removed. Obviously if this do go badly I will be bringing this up as this is ridiculous.

This is scaring the **** out of me since the transaction is worth £297. What are the chances of me not getting robbed in this situation as the phone was delivered to the Verified PayPal address.

Listing has been removed - buyer's account has been closed - in all likelihood, buyer's paypal isn't fully verified - did the transaction say "Seller protection" present?

eB would have sent you an e-mail saying "Listing has been removed".

You have the tracking number to give to Paypal - push back with that and hope for the best.

You do not keep postal receipts for items over £100?

You must like gving money away.

What records do you have of the transaction?

Depending on your postal office, you could have them get the receipt if you have the tracking number for the posted item.

I have done this few years back when I need to claim taxes on something I sent - it was a hassle for the post office but, being friendly with the staff and having both the tracking id, exact date of posting and the time I go to the post office (which was pretty regular), they printed a copy of the receipt for me

Myman... Expensive lesson right there!

I have every.single.piece.of.shipping.paperwork filed away and I've got last 3 years in my office. Everything that I've ever sent using Royal Mail, UPS, FedEX, Yodel and other couriers- Everything is recorded and kept safe.
Why? Because of situations like this.

Basic business stuff: keep your purchase invoices, keep your sales invoices and keep your shipping documents all safe. Treat them like a newborn baby.

eBay did send the 'listing removed' message but 8 days after the phone was purchased and I delivery after 1 working day.

I dropship and I've already emailed my supplier, so will see if they kept the documents.

Wait - with regards to what I said, you said you dropship - so your supplier mailed the item? That's why you don't have postal receipt?

Where is your supplier located?

UK, so I'm hopeful they kept the receipts but they do a lot of orders and it was a month ago. Not sure how it works with suppliers but I can't picture them going to the post office and printing out all the receipts

When you come to a forum with a major problem like this, we try to get as much info to assist.

Drop-shipping is a different ball game.

Get in touch with your supplier. Have you checked your own files?

How many times have you used this method for selling a mobile phone?

AS GB stated eebuy2485, dropshipping complicates matters a bit - you need that receipt to solidify your position. Tracking number helps but may not be enough - best of luck

around 20 times a month and this is the only way I sell. Have messaged the supplier and will get back with the response.

IF this is the same drop-shipper, you might be in luck with the needed info.

But, part of the issue is the drop shipping. Try to make no mention of this to either ebay or pay pal.

Fingers crossed you get the much needed info.

***Quick update on the case.

Decided to ring Royal Mail since the tracking number does not show the delivered address only the signature (which upon inspection shows that the guy basically drew a massive penis with his annitials - at least he's honest about what he is.) After giving them the tracking number for said 'Dick's' order, they sent me a PDF with the full proof of postage and address, added it to PayPal and they released the funds and said if the chargeback did go through PayPal would 'take the hit' and no funds would be removed from my account.

Basically: Holy **** PayPal actually did something right for once

Thanks for all the advice and if The Dick strikes again and tries to screw anyone else or this happens to anyone else - a tracking number and a call to Royal Mail should be enough.

I actually had a similar issue last month that JUST came to the cancelled order by ebay...

He purchased a console from me and I clearly stated that it was pickup only.

I canceled the sale, then ebay removed my sold listing 4 days ago warning me not to ship due to the buyers account...

I dont know whats going on but thats very suspicious.

Nice follow-up eebuy - Royal Mail responded quickly and PP was good to you. Block this guy from bidding on your items again if you wish to avoid further dealings

Buyer's eBay account has been removed, so has probably already used this site for evil and made another account.
