Just curious what happens to the money if it gets refunded back to Paypal?...

That account might get limited

The money will get refunded to your paypal account and the bank account will be removed from your paypal account.
It could be limited but its a low likelihood of it happening.

In my experience the bank account gets removed. Sometimes you have problems if you don't add another and sometimes it does not matter.
