Payments from US to UK Paypal ?
 

Need advice from all the geniuses here.

Have a payment to be received on a US paypal account, but want to transfer it to my personal UK paypal, then to my UK bank account.

Are you aware of any restrictions for paying from a US paypal to a UK paypal ?

There are no restrictions as such, but if PayPal realise what your doing then its possible that they would close both accounts down. Its unlikely as a one off though

How come you did not get paid directly into your UK PayPal out of question?

the person trying to pay me is based in the US, and paying in USD from a USA paypal.
When he tried to pay into my UK account it did not work, Would you have an idea why ?

So that's why I had setup a USA paypal...

I've sent money to a wide array of countries from a UK PayPal account with no problems whatsoever, aside from the hefty extra fees PP charge.

I would assume one or both of the PP accounts involved in the transaction aren't very well established.

You really should not have having issues getting a payment from the US to a UK PayPal. I do it all the time without problems

What message appears when he tried to transfer the funds?

The funds need to be in the paypal balance.

What ever you do, do not use gift payments.

Because paypal know you are trying to avoid fees. The more times you try goft payments, the more you run the risk of getting hassles.

Far too many users try the "gift payments" so paypal watches carefully.

From what you have said, your accounts have been limited for gift payments.

Gift is the same as friends and family right? And yeh i've been limited for that. Btw i thought fees are the same? I always pay 50 cents fees for transfering $100 to my personal paypal as a gift.

good point, I always noticed a fee equiv to 4% - ish when I occasionally did gift payments recently.....

@OP, keep in mind...transferring between paypal accounts and then changing to UK pounds....you are going lose a bunch because of Paypal's fees AND HORRIBLE exchange rate...

The exchange rate for $ to £ is much better now than it was a few weeks ago!
