Should I "upgrade" to a stealth business account?
 

Hello everybody. I purchased an ebay + paypal stealth account off here a little while ago and have been taking it slow as far as listings go. But I think I am nearing the point where I can start listing more aggressively.
My question is, is it wise to upgrade my stealth paypal account to a business account? If I remember correctly they ask for the last 4 digits of your SSN when you do that. Is there any way around it?

I always do.... You can get around the SSN situation if you are proactive and get your EIN, LLC, DBA, Business Bank Account, etc. in Advance of them asking for it..

So if I understand you correctly, when I upgrade to a business account and give them my EIN and legal business info, they won't ask for my SSN? Does it require phone verification?

They wont ask for it, unless your activity becomes suspicious, such as too much increase in sales all at once. Even then they might just ask for invoices..

I have never had to re-verify my phone. However, I always do it from the start of account anyways.

You were correct. When you enter an EIN #, they DO ask for the last 4 digits of your SSN. I'm not sure how you get around that. In another thread, somebody wrote you can be adamant about not providing an SSN, and they will let it happen.

But that was not my experience. I could not advance to the next "business account" screens unless I provided the last 4 numbers of my SSN.

And within 48 hours, that PayPal account was permanently banned.

My personal feeling is that you either start a new Ebay/PayPal pair OR if you have not passed the $20,000 annual threshold, to retire that account for the rest of the year, put in a new PayPal address with new bank in 2017, and take your chances with that.

Thanks for your input! It is very much appreciated. As with with most of us I presume I have been previously banned from ebay/paypal. Do you know if there would be any ramifications to just giving them the last 4 digits? I am not to familiar with how SSN's work but I couldn't imagine how they would connect a previously banned user just from the last 4 digits of their SSN.
