For folks with multiple accounts.

What is your favorite solution, what phone(s) are you using and what provider.

I was thinking of going with tracfone, but was curious if there was a better option.

I saw there is a $3 per month tmobile option. However they only list phones for $80 and up. My old samsung was not compatible (probably 5 years old). I need to find a list of compatible phones.

What happens if you get a recycled number from google voice...won't that get you banned?

I don't think you understand the comment I made. You don't use the GV number to verify anything, the GV number is a replacement for the tracfone number for ebay, but it's a number you give PayPal as your real number.

FYI, Even landline, Cell numbers get recycled.

It sounds like you are saying, you buy a tracfone. You use that to validate ebay/paypal, then you change the number on the account to a GV number. Then you use the freed up tracfone again for verification each time you open a new account, followed by replacing with GV.

Do I have that right?

Pretty close, let me break it down.....
1. Activate Tracfone
2. Open Gmail and Google Voice using Tracfone number.
3. Open ebay account and verify it with Tracfone
4. Open Paypal and give PayPal GV Number as Primary Number
5. After 30 days (thats just me) switch Ebays phone number over to GV number.

6. Request a new Phone Number and repeat steps 2-5 (Tracfone lets you change a phone number 3 times + the original number you requested)

Is this suppose to be same as Verification of PayPal ?
If not, which step/procedure to verify paypal? Tracphone still? I read that GV is not accepted

Tracfone expires in I think 90 days idk I just got one and went with the $9.99 a month plan

It's been a while since I used tracfone and I still have those old phones pilled up.

I can reuse them and just buy a card each, can't I?

I think so you can change the number 4 times too I haven’t changed mine yet might change it and make one more account here soon once I get another bank account

I am not from US. But I need a real phone number to verify my ebay and pp. Could any one help me buy a tracephone and activate and receive code?

Dingtone - looks cool! Looks like you can lock the number in for a year for $3.99. They give you 15 credits and you can get 200 credit for $3.99. Although you can watch some ads and get them for free.

This seems much cheaper than a tracphone. Have you had any issues with them?

Use Tracfone. Get double minutes. Then every 90 days buy 60 min card costs $19.99. You get 120 mins and your service is extended for another 3 months. Unused minutes roll over.

Tracfone wont pass Paypal "quick security check" they will simply say its not in your name.. how do you get around that?

I was afraid of this.

Seems like I can recall having issues using GV numbers with PP as well. They were able to detect it was a GV number, or forwarding service type number, at least that was the impression I got at the time. Please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken

If you just tried to add the new number, you'll have to wait a few weeks before it updates in the system and allows you to get a text verification from this number

new company's offering services that allocate 'trust' score based on your phone number (is it prepaid, is it postpaid, etc)

On ebay a lot of americans are selling american sim cards. Is it possible to activate that in the EU? For example, i would like to buy t-mobile USA sim card and activate it in Europe, i dont mind giving them my real documents if they accept non-us documents... anyone tryed that?

i would use that phone for verification for paypal, gmail and other usa services... :)

Wow this has been enlightening, thanks for everyone who posted and to the OP for bringing this up.

I've been using the iPhone app Burner. It works but seems much more expenseive.

I have a follow up question on this same issue...it's called SIM swap win you use the same device but just change the number or SIM, correct? So, how do you avoid the detection of the same device buy just changing the number?
