| | | mimo99 | 01-31-2024 01:08 PM | not getting verification text I am trying to create some ebay accounts using brand new sim cards, but sms text is not coming while I am registering on eBay. Sim cards are asda mobile if it matters, any idea whats wrong? Ive tried them on hotmail, and text from microsoft comes without issues, so sim card is activated correctly. |
| mrsalexia | 02-01-2024 01:15 PM | Re: not getting verification text never used asda mobile I had no idea thats a thing! try texting them with your own number and see if you receive text, maybe they need to be activated? some simcards require activation so not sure; if you are not receiving text and you have signal then its definitely simcard/network problem |
| yobar | 05-14-2024 12:24 PM | Re: not getting verification text The sim card is not approved by ebay, that happens with sims from other countries too, you have to try to use other sim cards friend |

What I did was restart my phone, and instantly after that the text would pop through.

Re: not getting verification text Ok i'll jump on an 18month old post too. Certain networks in the UK require sim cards to be topped up before usage, Tesco is likely one of them, giff gaff another, and o2 as I found out yesterday.
Three sim cards, and EE are fine and probably vodaphone too
Also: all need to be activated in the UK(putting the sim into the phone and receiving an SMS) before they can be used overseas |

Re: not getting verification text I've no doubt the the UK will also fall in line with many other countries in the near future, whereby Brits will need ID to register a Sim Card. And eventually biometrics like a few countries have already done |

Understandable that the mobile networks would want to stop people getting SIMSs and never topping them up, they make a loss each one otherwise.
I know my local shop gets paid by the distributors to have them on the counter and to place the racks in prominent positions.
Then I clear them out of the useful ones every week and never put any credit on them :) |

| mon73 | 09-28-2025 11:59 AM | Re: not getting verification text It's possible eBay is blocking SMS messages from Asda Mobile, or their system is having trouble sending to that specific provider. It could also be a temporary issue on eBay's side. Try a different mobile provider if possible, or wait a few hours and try again. If the problem persists, contact eBay support to see if they have any known issues. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:39 AM. | |
