| OldTom | 04-09-2024 04:39 PM | Re: UK SIM card with no TOP UP required to activate it I put a fiver on a Three PAYG sim about five years ago. Other than making the mandatory call/text every three months I've done nothing else with it and it's still working just fine. Balance currently £2.80.
That said, I do not rely on texts where they can be avoided and if 2SV is an option I select that. |

5 years simply impossible |

5 years simply impossible | Yet here I am with my five year old active Three sim.
Are you 'murdered_by_ebay' too by any chance, you're both quick to deny the truth.
If I can be bothered I'll take a screenshot of my phone app to prove you wrong. |

Not sure why you think i would lie about such a simple matter. Maybe speak from experience in future rather than googling everything you post. :)
But as promised, here's a screenshot, sadly I cannot confirm I took it it out in 2019 for one of my Amazon accounts, you'll just have to take my word for it that it ties in with one of my limited companies. https://ibb.co/GxFzqPN |
| OldTom | 04-09-2024 07:38 PM | Re: UK SIM card with no TOP UP required to activate it Here, I've taken your advice and used google. Found this for you: https://www.three.co.uk/pay-as-you-go/free-sim Pay As You Go SIMs can expire. To keep your number active, you must use it for at least one chargeable activity every 180 days. A ‘chargeable activity’ is something like making a call, sending a text, using your data, or using an existing top-up credit or Data Pack allowance.
Just like I said in my first post, indeed it's not 3 months its 6 months. You've saved me 30p per year. |

| andyframpton | 05-07-2024 05:34 PM | Re: UK SIM card with no TOP UP required to activate it O2 cards come with an activation date. Once that is gone then you need to top up to activate but if you don’t need the card after that date then just bin it. |
| mon73 | 09-28-2025 11:56 AM | Re: UK SIM card with no TOP UP required to activate it Yes, some SIM cards let you receive SMS without needing to add money. They are usually for specific purposes like activating a device or receiving verification codes. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 05:58 PM. | |
