Read eBay Stealth - Still Have a Question About Phone Verification

Hey Everyone,

So I read through the section on getting a new phone number in eBay Stealth, and I still have a question. I see some options for getting VOIP or a call forwarded to my current landline, but those services seem to be minimum $10/month, and to get a number in my area, the cheapest I'm finding is about $25/month.

Yeah, I know we have to spend some money to get up and running and keep things going, and if this is a necessary expense, I've got no issues keeping it going.

My questions is - how long do we need to keep these numbers in service? Will eBay or PayPal call immediately for verification, or could this pop-up at anytime? If they do call right away, is there the possibility that they could call again at some later date for some other reason, or do they only call once?

I did see the tip about disabling your notifications from eBay, so I assume that will cut down on most calls that are not strictly for verification?

I understand we may want to keep them in service for other reasons, but I'm specifically asking about verification.

Lastly, I'm guessing the 3 minute free trial that is offered at Toll Free Forwarding would not be sufficient for the verification?

I was wondering the same thing, once you make your first listing and ebay calls you , do you need to keep the number ? Maybe some one with more experiance will let us know.

Yes, it is recommended you keep an active phone number on the account.

$25 a month?! Most services I've seen are around $10 a month, do a search on Google.

I recommend a Tracfone, it comes with 20 free minutes and is only $10 at Walmart.

Good to know, thanks for replying.

Keep the phone number. They've been known to do follow up calls. Sometimes there is a true issue with your account and they attempt to contact you. If the number is no longer valid, they usually limit your account and require a very convincing and reasonable explanation.

Tracfone and MagicJack have worked well.
