Lift your limited eBay account after invalid phone suspension.

Does eBay care if your phone is invalid or not?
Yes, they are limiting and even suspending accounts for not having a valid phone number. What usually happen is once eBay detects your phone number is invalid; they will immediately stop your current auctions and limit your account until they can verify your number. It's an easy fix.

Why eBay limits your account for verification:

• If you change certain account information like your password, eBay will sometimes limit your account for phone verification. If you do this with a new IP, you can almost always expect eBay limiting your account for verification.
• Customers can complain that your contact information is invalid, and eBay will limit your account.
• It's also been mentioned using (AOL) proxies will sometimes limit your account for more information.

How to lift suspension and get a new phone number:
All you do in that case is update with a Privatephone or Aim Phoneline number or any number that actually works and eBay will call it and leave a pin on the voice mail. Then you go back to eBay, enter the pin to prove your number works and you get right back on.

Here are a few options for a temporary for number.

• Aim Phoneline (*Note Not Free Anymore, works, To listen to your voicemail you need an AOL or AIM e-mail address, a computer with an internet connection, a web browser, and speakers. To answer calls, you also need AOL 9.0 or the latest version of AIM, and have a microphone or PC headset. *** Update AIMPhone isn't free anymore)
• PrivatePhone (It's free and you can set up a voicemail so that when eBay sends the PIN number for to verify, it will record it for you. You can then access it by checking your voicemail by phone or just logging in and playing it thru your PC. *** Private Phone Is Ending DECEMBER 15, 2007)
• GrandCentral (works, may have limited numbers)
• Skype (not a good idea to use this as its part of eBay, Works right now... but for how long? It's only time before Skype shares information with eBay and Paypal.)

Other options: Arrange to use a friend's non-landline phone number for verification.

How to Prevent Future Suspension: Try to stay in contact with your customers so they won't have to ask eBay for your contact information. Use Privatephone or AIM Phoneline when you are limited.

It's best not to wait until you're limited to change your phone number to a real one. When eBay finds you're using a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ number they will remove your current auctions until you can verify your account.

Important!! Remember when listing your phone number; make sure not to use a phone number you've used before with a suspended account. This will cause your accounts to link and be suspended.

New Information about phone verification:
Verify your identity by phone - This option allows you to sell immediately on eBay. Enter your telephone number as indicated (land lines only) and select whether you want to receive the call now (you'll receive the call within 20 seconds) or in 2 minutes. You will get an automated call with a 4-digit verification number at the telephone number you specified. Enter the 4-digit verification number on eBay and continue your registration.

Google has aquired GrandCentral. That makes me wonder.

it doesnt seem to be up and running . i had to give them an email address and wait for them to contact me when it is available in my area. Private phone was so easy..i miss it

The Grand Central email usually takes 1-4 days. I just use the invite and send it to multiple email addresses and wait. usually when im ready to create a new gc #, i just look in an inbox, and there it is waiting for me. Hope that helps.

Is there anyway of getting a new number in the UK? Does anyone know if skype works? I have tried before but my ebay account was closed down dont know if it was because I used a skype number or whether I was just unlucky but dont wanna pay another £12 if its not gonna work. me poor:(

Free? Cmon, spend the 10-15 dollars, get a tracfone and then re-sell the thing on ebay. You can sell it for 7 or 8. As many people say on here, if you are worried about a 10-15 dollar charge to keep an account. Well.....you know...

If I change my phone number on eBay to a Trac phone number will that cause any red flag on my account? My current number is a private phone which will be terminated in Feb.

I know it sounds silly but I am thinking thats the best way to go if you can get a good deal on a couple of phones. But has anyone had any red flags caused my changing their telephone number on eBay? I am so afraid to change anything that is registered in the chances it flags something stupid in their system.

Can't you make the voicemail recording of pressing each number with a small pause in between?

I must have posted my reply in the wrong category before, sorry about that. I was just trying to tell everyone my best experience so far is with a company called Safercalls.com, I'm from Milwaukee so I needed a temporary number from here. They were able to give me one that I could just login to my account safercalls and then set the options like what numbers I want blocked, what prefix I want to show on my phone when a call is coming in so I know it's from my Safercalls number.

THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE is that I can make my Safercalls number my callerID when calling paypal, so then it automatically pulls up my account because it is showing that I'm calling in (using my temporary phone number). Paypal is not the only company that checks your number when calling in, but I know my credit card company does, and many other subscription based services I have do too.

Another note: I emailed them asking if they phone numbers in Illinois where my sister lives, and they said they can get them all over the U.S. even though they only advertise California and WI right now....check them out

I would suggest the safercalls.com i was talking about, because I had the issue you did.

safercalls.com is 19.95 per month. A prepaid cell phone is cheaper if you don't use it much.

Has anyone experience with jconnect? (www.j2.com). There is a free service
that allows voicemail messages. Or is an area code meant to match a zip code?

both have been verified and work.

Modee, I think each custom voice message is linked to the phone number that you add to receive calls, when you chance the number your message will be deleted automatically.

Unless something has changed, I used trac fone and it did not work as of 2-08
I then switched the trac fone number and set up grand central and that did not work.
I still havent found a way to get PP verified phone call.

i got somewhat verified by paypal with grand central. the did verify my phone number, but since it did not match the area code that my confirmed assress was in they sent me a letter with a pin number within it. i would have to enter the pin number into my paypal account to get it reinstated. i told them the address was an old po box that i no longer have and i guess they waived the letter verification because i got my account back without having to do the pin verification.

Is it FREE servic for Grand Central? and I was wondering if it is ok for paypal verification to use my cell phone which i registered on Grand central and this number is on the blacklist on paypal or I have to put only landline on Grand Central when i register since i've known that paypal only verify with landline?? I'm abit confused...Please confirm if i only have to enter landline number for Grand central so i'll get another number then...Thank you!

grand central is free, and i used my cell phone through GC. liek i said it kind of worked for paypal. i still had to do the address verification because i used a cell phone.

With Tollfreeforwarding can you get multiple numbers for the $10 a month or is it $10 a month per number? I'm confused. I read the site but its still confusing me.

The way I read it is that it is $10.00 per number. Look at FAQ New Accounts
and there is an explanation.

I just have an alt line on my cell. It's pay as you go so if I don't use it I won't be charged. You can always change #s if you get suspended.

Your right Chris, i hope people are learning, you cannot go full blast on new accounts and expect them to last now. You gotta work them in slowly, lowball bid on stuff you dont want to win, watch some stuff, etc. look as though you really are interested in not abusing....lol
