Default PayPal Phone Call

I have a new paypal/ebay account that is a couple weeks old---I have bought about 5 or 6 items with it. And I have started selling on it----sold about 3 or 4 items that the buyer paid with paypal.

Anyways, I've already shipped all the items ,etc. And just a few minutes ago I got a call from paypal wanting to verify some info from me!

Even though I've only taken in about 3 or 4 items through paypal ($20 or so each!!!), they wanted to ask me what my business plans were, who my source is, how long have I been in business, etc.

I acted dumb, etc. and gave bogus answers and then I told her how great i thought paypal was and that I was considering expanding my business!

She says, "Great, that is what we like! You probably won't a have problem on this based upon your account and talking with you, but always save your invoices from your suppliers in case paypal needs them! But like I said, it doesn't look like we will need those from you."

I have never had them call like that with only 3 or 4 payments received! (The account is verified with CC and bank acct but no SSN).

Just thought i'd share!

Good post, Josh..thanks! This is THE ONLY way we can stay Ahead of them..is by openly communicating...Wouldn't it be nice if some Rich investor like Bill Gates read our Forum + seen how hard were trying just to support our families..+ opened up an alternative to Ebay? Gatesbay E auctions?

Does tracfone work to verify their verification codes? I thought they knew a cell phone from landline? I have a tracfone, havent used it in a while, would have to register for a new number, no problem.

Ok that is great news, so i could literally get a tracfone for each account and sit on it for a while with new accounts. Will reactive it tomorrow! I didnt think the whole paypal mobile thing was a good idea, as little contact with paypal as possible,

i would recommend it, definately! Use masking tape on the back of each phone with the accoutn name for when they call --- and they will

If you commuincate correctly with them, it is to your advantage---Big $$ coming in, call them and mention something like you are considering expanding---they will note it in your accoutn---plus you get brownie points for being a real person that they are talking with! If you are really nice, you can actually get the person to tell you whether or not your are going to get limited anytime soon! Mine did the other day,....i said something like, "a friend of mine lost their acct temporarily because of a fraudulent payment that came in and paypal froze there acct and wouldn't let them use it, I am juts concerned about that because of my business just starting." .....she told me, well, mr so and so, from the looks of your account, it doesn't look like that should be a problem for you at all....i dont see anything of concenr in your account"

Wow, now i would have been afraid to call them fearing they would know i was calling from a tracfone and not an actual landline, but i believe you and am sure using a tracfone to call paypal now seems like a good idea.

think about it though, in the mind of paypal, if you were a "fraudster" which is who they think we are...would you call them???? NO, you would remain hidden! We've got to do everything they dont expect us to do

They expect us to use a phone forwarding service (so they made it so you have to push a button) -- They dont expect us to call them! So let's keep them as confused as ever ! lol

I've been away a while, but this is a new one to me. The only thing they ever used a phone with me for in the past was for them to call and i punch in a number.

BTW, just got the invite from Grandcentral.com and got a number. Can't you use that and if you need to call them use a spoof card so your number shows up on caller id as the one they have on record

Wow paypal, an ebay company, is actually having real people call you on the phone. Odd. It's so unlike ebay.

I heard from someone they sold an item for $10,000 I believe and I asked them about paypal and they claimed paypal merely called them to confirm and that was all.

This seems highly irregular. You mean they are busy calling every single new member who receives a handful of payments into their account??? This is just getting ridiculous.

I think they have an automated system now that calls the phone numbers on file when you receive/send payment over a certain amount. The system calls the number, if it is not a working number, automatic limit. If you answer it, then they let it go through. Just my theory on how they are doing it now.
