Line2 App turns ipod/ipad into a phone
 

There's a new app called Line2 (Toktumi) that's available now for the ipod touch, ipad, and iphone that turns your device into a phone via wifi for only $9.95 a month. It gives you free unlimited texting, and calls in the United States/Canada as well. For international users it's 10 cents per text. It also uses cellular networks, so if you have an iphone, now you can have a 2nd line via wifi. I'm sure this will be useful for apple users out there. For $14.95 a month business users can have auto attendant, custom greetings, visual voicemail and other PBX features.

There are at least 5-6 phone apps for iPad/iPhone that I have seen.

Toktumi was one of the better ones I saw.. but expensive compared to others.

For example 'Whistle' is a free one. And you get your own phone number.
