Using payphone, google voice chat

So lets say you are opening a few new accounts. You won't be using the anytime soon you just want them as backups.

After you have all your other info, to phone verify your account you can use a pay phone.

This may take two people unless you have a smart phone that you can open up your account with or a laptop with a wireless card.

1) find a pay phone in your area and call your sell phone from it. The phone number should pop up and you record it.

2) open your ebay account and input all th other info and them list the pay phone, which is a land line and ebay loves land lines, number in you account.

3) As you are signing up, they will ask if you if you want them to call you at that number ring now and you say yes.

4) They will call, you pick up, write down the pin code and give it to ebay when they ask for it online.

Now, if you don't have a wireless card or a smartphone, don't worry. Just have a sibling, spouse or friend at home fill out the ebay info while you are waiting on the call.

When you get the call, call the and give them the pin and boom you are done.

PLEASE NOTE!

This is only to get you verified, if they try to call it won't work because obviouly you won't be there.

At some point, when you are acutally ready to use the sellers account, you will input a real contact number on your ebay profile.

They will not call you unless you are selling and look suspect!

Good :nerd:day

Most payphones don't allow incoming calls anymore. Plus I don't know where you live but around here I haven't seen a payphone anyplace other than the airport.

rsot 12-22-2010 12:19 PM

I agree - i haven't been able to receive calls at pay phones.

simplyhaeley 12-22-2010 12:25 PM

I am in the chicago land area. Some of our gas station still have pay phones. I tried it and it worked for me. It did accept an incomming call from me. I used this for craigs list not ebay but it should work the same.

Pay phones are fading fast in my area too but it could be useful if you have acess to these type of pay phones.

sax4 12-22-2010 12:55 PM

We have them in the UK, they accept incoming calls

They smell of pee, but might do the job. You just have to make sure you're ready to jump in there at the right time!. If not will be like the Vandalay Industries episode of Seinfeld :)

holymoly 12-22-2010 02:01 PM

Lmao!! Nice name drop...Seinfeld!

I love Seinfeld. If only there were more shows like that around.

simplyhaeley 12-24-2010 07:58 PM

First Edition 12-24-2010 11:50 PM

Man... a trac phone is 10 dollars at any drug store and 20 dollars at any gas station

I don't even know where I would go to find a pay phone.... a phone.com account is 5 dollars, google voice is free! You don't have to drive any where to use google voice

I'm sure it works.... but if you have a wireless card, or smart phone, why are you considering stone age technology to beat ebay?

simplyhaeley 12-25-2010 05:06 AM

Hey, what can I say, thats one of the perks of being a new member, living in the stone ages until someone points you in the right direction.

First Edition 12-25-2010 03:10 PM

Well said. I'm glad you're open to suggestion :)

Recherché 12-25-2010 09:38 PM

Perhaps I'm misreading the OP statement. For a new phone # I go to tossabledigits.com and pay $1.99 for a new # to be forwarded to any phone I have. I only use my landline but have all my #'s go through that one #. Now if eBay/Amazon request me to call them, that is a different issue.

gcrusader92 12-28-2010 10:29 PM

jeesh people you can do this:

your cellphone can be made to 9 different numbers.

ur cellphone that is one number. Create 2 gmail and use google voice which gives 2 numbers. use sipgate (free forwading) that is one number. then create 2 gmail accounts and use google voice using the sipgate number, that gives you two numbers. then use xvoxx that gives one number. then create 2 gmail accounts again and use google voice using the xvoxx number that gives you another 2 numbers.

so ur cellphone (1). sipgate (1). xvoxx (1). all google voice (6).

Nine numbers from just one number!

dude, just go to soho66 website, pick the area of the country where your stealth address is ie 0207 London, pick any old number, pay £2+vat, put a little credit in your account. Then just go to the routing wizard and enter your mobile/landline number of whatever you want.

update lol:

tracfone $10 at walmart - 1 number

Google voice - after creating gmail email, you can then make 2-3 google voice numbers

(4 numbers)

Then call tracfone and tell them you moved and want to change your area code: another tracfone #

Then 2-3 more Google voice numbers (another 4 numbers)

= 8 numbers before using sipgate , xvoxx - this will add another 4 numbers

= 10 numbers for $10 lol

forget the payphone

holymoly 01-18-2011 02:00 PM

ACTUALLY

1 phone for 10 bucks
2 GV fones from this
2 TFF numbers
2 sipgate
2 GV
2 TFF
2 xvoxx
2 GV
2 TFF

If in CA (free phone line) MULTIPLY EVERY CA NUMBER BY x5

So....USA=17 fones
CA=INFINITE really
UK=????

Meh....UK costs me tons of money for phones, haven't found anything free yet!

Are you implying that you can only have two google voice numbers per cellphone number and that's why you are using sipgate and xvoxx to go up to 9 numbers?
