call ebay to confirm my identity?
 

the last time i set up an account and i listed about 3 items to sell, ebay suspended the account until i sent them adequate proof of identity.
ebay calls me about 30 minutes after to confirm my identity which i did.

im using a stealth account and im sure the minute i list a few items, ( items under $10) im sure they will suspend me and give a notice to prove my identity.

should i just call them and give them the stealth info? address name ect?

Don't be proactive - if they call you, be prepared. Done.

is ebay doing this randomly on new accounts?

Yeah... They've been doing it for 9 months minimum...

This happens mostly on older accounts. I've sold on 10+ acct's recently with 0 fb and hardly any activity, not 1 of them got hit then I sold on sold on 3 7 mo old acct's with fb and all 3 got hit.

i had 2 accounts in the past where i got an email stating that they needed me to send them a bank account statement and some other form of i.d. i never did. i called ebay and told me i had to fax the info.
months ago i set up another account and the same thing happened except this time ebay called me about 30 minutes after i listed and asked me a few simple questions. the reinstated my account with no limits. mind you i got suspended anyway for being connected t another account.
this time i set up a stealth account and im sure i will be suspended the minute they call me. i hope they will call again to confirm and give them my new accounts stealth info.

I have to call ebay to, i think it is because my ip did a random change today, so they want me to call before i list an item. I am using stealth information And my phone number is a previous account, so i can not call them. I used google voice for free call forwarding.

Any advice? can i block my number when i call?

i waited until eBay normal business hours closed.

I tried to list something, it wouldnt let me and gave me an option to confirm my identity via live chat. I had to do this because my ip address changed. After chat ebay called me, all i had to do was tell them the name of the agent in the chat box. The end.

They just got me on my regular 2 year old account. why i dont know. They canceled my auctions and want me to send in a ID.

Mind, its a regular old personal account I buy with and sell some stuff.

Im not sending them anything and just for that im making 10 accounts

im gonna try the live chat when the time comes...although they suck and rarely help out..its beats talking to them on the phone.

yeah, i hate talking to them on the phone..let us know how it worked out

on live chat is more easier than phone ... while you speak with the live chat operator , somebody from ebay will call on the phone # you have on file with ebay and ask you the name of the operator.

if you verify your identity by phone , be prepared for a lot of questions like previous addresses , ssn , subdivision , birth date , previous names , etc etc ....i speak daily with ebay at phone and is like I speak with my best friends now :)))))

ok i set up stealth and im ready to go! but i have the limit of 10 items or $500.
last time i set up an account (real info and not stealth) they suspended me, then called and confirmed my info. after that i had no limits on selling but my account was suspended cause i was linked anyway. this time its on the comp and i 'failed' the verification process so they want to call me. i answered the questions as best as i could for a stealth account.

now they want me to call them.
they didnt suspend the account but i am limited to a few items

ALL accounts have the 10 item/$500 limit a month until you've been selling for 90 days. You need to use multiple accounts, that's the best way around it.

If the account was made with real info you can call and try to get the limits raised, but I do not recommend it. If you answer incorrectly, you're very likely to be suspended.

The stupid *******s locked my account (Unauthorized Use)and was suppose to end my auctions but my auctions are still going and I am getting payments into my Paypal and I still have 1 auction live but cant access my account.

Last time I called they wanted me to send in my ID which I dont have a problem with because it is my real info but I just dont want to.

They wanted to call me at the phonenumber on file but it was a tracphone I no longer have

update: For some reason i can access my account now except I cant reply to emails or list auctions

i talked to ebay late last night. via online chat and called to verify me with 3 simple questions. i passed. im in! next is to lift my selling limits

Alright, I have an MC015 (verify info) suspension and they won't reply to my emails and ebay messages no matter what I do. If I can find a chat link after hours, I can talk to them to see if they'll help me, right? What are the questions like?

wait until after hours. they ask you some dumb random questions about your area. very basic. you will know the answer. the questions about where u live and all that.

ok i got a new issue. ebay wants me to call them again to reverify my identity.
they gave me a toll free number to call with a security code.

icant call them because all my numbers are associated with other ebay accounts
i also read that 800 and 888 still see incoming calls even if u *67 or are a private listing
is this true?

WHAT??? That's crazy. Don't you have virtual numbers or tracfones or something?

Keep us posted because this verifying identity crap is happening all the time and i just don't know what to do.

i have a virtual number. but i cannot call from it. outgoing calls show up as my regular cell phone.

Hmm, I was about to sign up for callcentric. I asked them if outgoing shows the virtual number and they said yes.

I have 16 active accounts with ebay using Ebay stealth and some of my own input.... I have had to call several times to verify... All they do is ask 1-3 "identity" questions... But on the accounts that i had to call were ghost accounts so the answers to the questions were all "none of the above"... ie.. they ask me which of the 4 zip codes have i ever lived etc... the answer is none. I passed on every one and they instanly lifted the initail limitation. Has only happened on 3 of my past 8 new accounts!! Maybe random?

possibly random! they did it to me too. it all depends on which representative you talk too. they ask simple questions about your area. as long as you know that your fine!
also this is a brand new thing. the calling to verify you. only a few weeks old.

Make sure you have access to the phone number you used to sign up with, and know all original information you singed up with and your good. if you dont know it they will ask you to fax in Id which hell, you can photoshop up some stuff anyway

A NEW user claiming to use ebay stealth. Hmmm, but are you are new user or just a very clever boy:smash:

When I get a notification to recieve a PIN through the automated call back, I just close the browser window and re-open and login to my ebay account in another browser - so I either use Google, or Firefox or IE. Usually I can continue doing my admin without the notice coming up...

1. Delete Flash Cookies.
2. Reboot.
3. Log into ebay. Attempt to sell. Get same error message.
4. Log out.
5. Reboot.
6. Log into ebay (same IP). Sell.

This worked for me 2 days ago. However, today but I logged in from another machine and saw that the listings I'd posted on the acct were no longer active, although there was no notifications in the connected email account. Weird. I'm going to go to that location later today to see what happened.

Do not call that number. The 10 digit security code is bogus and you will basically be put on hold for about 2 hours for no reason. The only reason the want to talk to you is to tell you your account is linked to a banned one.

Of course all accounts have this limit. It's plainly stated on ebay's website.

So why are people saying it's 10/500? for new accounts? I'm confused and I just got back from a few months absent from the forum. :noidea:

It is 10/500. You can get 100/5000 as an increase but the 10/500 is the standard. I've been absent for a couple years. It's crazy what you miss, huh?! Welcome back :)

It's 10/500 for the first 90 days an account is open. Then it goes to 100/5000

If the live chat method works, then isn't a handicap NOT to have set your stealth acct up with a working number like with a prepaid phone? If you purchase an account from a seller on this site you won't have a number for ebay to call you at, correct? Can I safely add a number that can receive a call after being hit with MC010?

New to the site and want to contribute. I am not sure how easy it is to get new ip addresses using other methods but a verizon wireless card works very good for me.

I have register a seller accout. I use the home phone to verified the accout. In my seller accout show 100/$5000. I think if you register your seller accout with cell phone, you will get 10/$500. I think this might help some of you guy.
