| | | Imakemoney | 03-11-2011 06:34 PM | Soho66 didnt work for ebay verification Ive just created another stealth ebay/paypal account.
I verified my paypal account using this numberfrom Soho66 diverted to my mobile to lift the limits but when i came to use the same number to set up ebay selling it didnt work and i got this message:
"We were not able to verify the phone number you provided. Please try again."
Has anyone else experienced a problem similar to this recently? |
hey ive never used a landline for ebay verification. why not use a mobile number to verify for ebay that should sort it out |
| Imakemoney | 03-11-2011 07:03 PM | when ever I have tried to use mobile for ebay verification in the past it has not worked, but that was about 2 months ago.
Are ebay now always allowing mobile phone verification for selling? |
| Alps_a somewhatlegend | 03-11-2011 07:18 PM | I used a mobile to verify over 6 month ago maybe even a year (vant remember).
When you enter the number into eb, in the first box are you putting 020 and then 71111111 because I have found it only works for me like that. Also when using mobile to register, I put 079 in the first box then 56555555. |
| Imakemoney | 03-11-2011 08:30 PM | thanks I'll give that a go also.
But i'd still like to know about other uk stealthers recent experience with soho66? |
| jazzyb | 03-12-2011 02:22 AM | Hi, add some credit as they charge 10 pence for forwarding your call. Works perfect J :) |
| Imakemoney | 03-12-2011 07:20 AM | I have £4.95 credit on.... |
| jazzyb | 03-12-2011 09:26 AM | ok if you change you opening times to 23:00 to 00:00 then the forwarding will work :) |
| Imakemoney | 03-12-2011 11:57 AM | sorry change opening times? |
Ive had some problems with soho, i changed opening hours too |
| jazzyb | 03-12-2011 01:30 PM | Soho 66 Hi will try explain ! when you set your forwarding number use the wizard to link your number that you are forwarding to. There will be opening and closing times that the forwarding will take place. If you want everyone to call the number that you use to forward to, then best set your opening times to suit yourself. It will only work when these are set, i set mine to 23:00 to 00:00 that way i was only shut for an hour and the rest of the time, if i gave the number out it would still direct to forwarding number. Hope this is of some help J |

| Alps_a somewhatlegend | 04-02-2011 09:41 AM | ^ after playing around, this is what I found.....
It works for paypal, but if you ever are required to verify by phone, a message will pop up saying you cant verify via a mobile number.
On some accounts, when I goto lift the 1900 selling limit it all goes through nice and limits lifted without needing to phone verify.
On the other hand, on some accounts, I have had to phone verify.
Its not a major problem. You can setup your inital pp with a mobile and IF you are lifting limits and IF you are asked to phone verify, it gives you an option to add a landline to phone verify - I have gone through this process and added a landline and it is all good - no major flags raised |
| Imakemoney | 04-02-2011 11:02 AM | For some reason on that account I didnt get soho66 to work for my ebay account so I ended up using a mobile for the ebay account but it did work for my paypal account. Very odd. |
| ShadyOne | 04-10-2011 06:01 AM | ^ I do not fully know how soho66 and such other companies work but do they all have access to the same phone numbers, if so is their a chance that your number has already been used with multiple eBay accounts.
eBay does not like too many different accounts from different addresses using the same phone number. I once got over the phone and live chat with eBay "...the phone number you have tried to verify with has already been used too many times..."
Best thing would have actually been to try another land line number from soho66 and seen if that worked. You would have known that the problem then lay with the original number. |
| Alps_a somewhatlegend | 04-10-2011 07:17 AM | ^ hey man... your 1 clever dude.... that thought never even came into my 'genius' mind.
I take it you mean.... (eg.)
I have had numbers with bt over the years and ended the contract/line - a few months later, when I rang 'my' old number that was cut of, it rang and someone answered and they were fairly local to me.
From what you say and what my 'genius' mind tells me, this could well be the case.
I am upset with myself for not thinking this, especially as I have a lot of numbers with soho.
Anyway.. from reading your recent posts, you sound clever... if you are a young lad... even better as you have your whole life ahead you to to use your knowledge and make lots of cash - all in a legit way of course! |
| Imakemoney | 04-10-2011 10:42 AM | I agree with shadyone this could be the case I reckon.
Still annoying though! |

| Haha, I love your posts, always something uplifting and eccentric about them. :D Very informative as well! :hail:
You defintely understood what I was saying, I think it could be the problem with a lot of these numbers, although sometimes other factors can play a part when it comes to eBay/PayPal.
We never really get to see fully behind the eBay/PayPal curtain, but they never really get in behind the stealth curtain either ;)
p.s. I am early 20's and legit all the way baby :amen: Quote:

| I think it could be the case sometimes but as you found out, eBay have now started accepting mobile numbers. Don't know if it is any less stealth but does give us all another option.
I don't exactly know the reason they would have started this but personally I think they may have had a lot of complaints from eBay users who do not have landlines or access to one at that.
Great news for Stealth enthusiasts! I was shocked, I never heard anyone mention it but I remember trying my mobile phone around January and it worked.
p.s. did you know that some mobile phone companies also recycle phone numbers after they have been inactive for a certain length of time. |
| NotAHappyBunny | 06-01-2011 07:36 PM | hi
has anyone joined eb using a soho66 number? Ive just purchased one and understand its all good for pp, but ive read conflicting advise about how good they work with eb.
Do i need to get a new mobile number for eb? I hope not
:pop2: |
| Imakemoney | 06-01-2011 07:54 PM | Soho66 has been working fine for me recently with both ebay and paypal.
That number which I used which prompted me to create this thread must have been blacklisted previously by ebay - ie been used by someone else before with ebay. |

:pop2: | I have used many numbers with eBay and PayPal with no problem. All you need is an active phone numebr you have never used before and is not used with any seperate accounts.
I have not had a problem yet, I will report back in this thread if I ever do.
Good luck NAHB... I am sure you will be a happy bunny with soho.
