| | | mantisinc | 03-01-2008 08:28 AM | Looking for a UK landline? I can help you out Okay, some people seem to be having issues with the landline setup from voipfone. I have an account with them that has now had the max phone number registrations unlimited by request.
So anyone after a phone number, send me a PM and I can purchase it on my account, then you can ring it through and I'l send you the verification code.
Numbers are £2.50 per month. You can cancel them after the first payment if you wish. Payment is by card, so I will need to know the details of the card you want to pay with, which includes the name and address attached to the card. If you feel safer, prepaid cards can be used.
I've already helped two members out on the forum and bought them numbers, so thought I would offer my services publically!
Also, anyone outside of the UK will not be able to sign up, as registration is only open to UK IP addresses (I believe.) |
| GreenBean | 03-01-2008 10:57 AM | Mantis, that is good of you to help like that. With this beast ebay sometimes a person needs help. I kind thought you were a preying Mantis rather than a pitbull. lol. |

| mattcafc | 03-02-2008 03:55 PM | cheeky git charging people for a TOTALLY FREE service!!!
sipgate.com |
| GreenBean | 03-02-2008 04:45 PM | |
| mantisinc | 03-03-2008 01:38 AM | Matt, it seems sipgate has a VERY limited amount of numbers available for different areas, whereas voipfone has a huge amount.
Please don't call me a cheeky git unless you know what you are talking about. I'd rather stick with paying £2.50 for a service I know is reliable, from a company with outstanding customer service, and would only urge anyone else to do the same. |
Hi, I used a voipfone number on my new paypal account, but when the phoned to verify it, I entered the 4 digit code in keypad on x-lite, but it kept saying unable to recognise it. So now they are sending letter to the made up address, could I phone them up with an internet phone from the number on my voipphone account and say that I have not received the letter, but as I am phoning from the number on my account will that do for verifying?
The account has been verified so would like to keep it if I can. |
Hi, I have given up on that Paypal account and opened another one.
I now have gone through all the verification points and now am back at the last one which is verifying your address with them phoning, I have a new voipfne number for this account so would like to know best way of answering the call as last time it did not work with X-Lite?
Could someone help with this please as dont want to lose this account straight away.
Thanks |
| mantisinc | 03-19-2008 11:09 AM | There is only one way of answering the call, and one way of entering the number. And that's exactly the way you are doing it. So I don't know where you are going wrong... |
| steve | 03-25-2008 03:34 PM | why not use prepaid mobile phone numbers ? i've successfully verified my phone number on ebay uk with that... PM me if you want to know a little trick ;) |
| dollybaby | 03-26-2008 10:58 AM | I thought ebay didnt allow mobile phone numbers, or am I wrong. |
| freakazoid789 | 03-29-2008 02:05 AM | just wondering how to get past this..

| oompaloompa | 12-23-2009 07:05 AM | No, has to be landline on UK ebay |
| paypalpains | 12-23-2009 11:07 AM | And what about PayPal?
Anyone have any working numbers for them, for multiple accounts? Am already using home landline for one account.
What are the working alternatives as of 23/12/09? |
| oompaloompa | 12-23-2009 12:36 PM | paypal, location verification is hard, it has to be an exact number to match their database of location, so call/email a few voip places to see if they can match you up, try and have an accessible address in case it fails, as you will get a letter code instead |
| NOHOMENOFOODNOBUSINESS | 01-03-2010 04:15 AM | i would like one i am new to this do i leave my phone number ? x |

| johnridden | 02-20-2010 06:33 AM | hey is this still being offered? |
| oompaloompa | 02-20-2010 04:15 PM | nothings being offered - we are just discussing phone verification!! |
Can you let me know how many numbers they let you register with voipfone?
Is the number capped at 10, 20 etc?
Can you get this released?
If they do cap the amount of numbers you can purchase can you then re-register? |

| MadSam | 08-09-2010 07:31 PM | Does voip phone/sipgate still work? |
| stickmade | 08-17-2010 05:05 PM | Been having problems lately when coming to the phone verification process. Im entering the correct code that paypal specifies on the site but it reply with "incorrect code entered". I already lost 1 account because of this & can't risk another
Im not sure if it sipgate works madsam i use a different service myself |
| oompaloompa | 08-17-2010 05:09 PM | you are gettiing the call and hearing the code then? then there is nothing wrong with phone number, you will have to contact paypal about it |
| stickmade | 08-17-2010 06:48 PM | No im on about the paypal verification part. The code appears in paypal, then you have too type the code in the phone for paypal to verify it,, as you already know. But when i type the code into the phone, i get the message "incorrect code, goodbye" aww this is the first time this has happened too me i've had zero problems till now. |
| oompaloompa | 08-18-2010 06:06 AM | with voip? youve got it configured wrong to your landline phone, its maybe not hearing the tones... |

It worked on for my ebay account. strange.
What voip software do you use oompaloompa? Pm me if you don't want too post here. |
| oompaloompa | 08-19-2010 06:26 AM | no I agree, reports have been on forum for months and months that voip sometimes fails for paypal (not eb), usually though the problem isnt exactly as youve described it eg. getting code but it not being able to input, however I think your theory that voip is the issue highly possible. Me? Ive use virtual lines in the past, never voip, I heeded warnings
from past forumers, virtual numbers are more expensive, tie you in longer but the benefit is they sit on your existing landline, and there are no redirection issues. I have had a failure even with virtual number once though, fortunately letter went to accessible address , the reason was non-matching of their database. We get alot of these on forum, and so thats not just a voip issue necessarily... | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:52 PM. | |
