Verification when setting up Ebay seller accounts
 

I have a question that I know part of the answer is on this board somewhere, but I can't find it. Coffee maker broke, I think I'm going into withdrawals which is affecting my brain right now.
I tried Google Voice for my last Stealth and I LOVE it! Even a dumb a*# like me can figure that out. However, the closest prefix they have to me is in a town 200 miles from me. I hate small towns! I noticed that right after I set that account up ( like 1/2 hour ) they gave me the, " we sometimes need additional information.........you have 48 hrs to call" email.
Can they tell during the sign up phase and automated phone call you get from them that there is a huge distance between your IP address and your phone number prefix? It's the same area code though. I mean, people move and keep their numbers, but they're so anal you just never know.

When it comes to the IP address and phone number, your suppose to be within 100 miles of eachother. Personally though, I live in the southwest and have accounts with addresses/phone numbers all over the country yet my IP says its in the southwest. Have had no problems. The most important thing is that your area code is as close to your address as possible. Something else you did on the account when setting it up must have set off their radar.

Did you list immediately?

Just call from that number if you can and give them all the details on the account and you'll be fine! Good luck!

I'm sure they can tell. I found out the hard way that It Is not possible to use ⊗⊗⊗⊗ addresses with stealth accounts, because they won't last long, so next time maybe you should try a prepaid phone instead. They check everything. Good Luck!

I live in the southwest to and yes, I did list immediately. Freaked out when we found out landlord lost our house and never shared this little bit of news with us. Have a few days left to move. We're moving closer to the prefix I got from Google Voice though!

What kind of questions do they ask? I'm TERRIBLE with stuff like that. My mouth gets dry and my voice cracks. I sound like a 13 year old boy in puberty. I know I have to, but I'm sooooo afraid they will ask me something that I completely screw up on. Thank goodness they can't see me. That is a total give away that I'm not being honest!

I'm not sure what questions they ask, sometimes it's completely random, and there is no way you'll know the answer to whatever it is that they are asking you. Some people fail, and some people randomly gets ebay to leave them alone, worth a try, what do you have to lose?

BTW, I keep everything within 25-30 miles from me, I don't, and won't even attempt the 100 miles.

LoL If for some reason you're worried about your voice, try using a voice changer. You'll have the option to have a womans voice, or MANLY voice in your case LOL :D

Too bad we can't just show cleavage and it all goes away...poof. lol

Yeah, would have been nice to have some warning. I know these things happen, especially in this economy, but give a girl some warning so she isn't running around like a crazy woman trying to handle everything and grumpy! Yikes, I'm the poster child for that lately! I'm not too pleasant to be around since we got the news. My boyfriend hears, "I'm sorry for being such a b#$@h", more than he hears anything else lately!
