Virgin Mobile $10 Number Change...

Well it seem as the stories are in FACT TRUE.

Virgin Mobile Pay Lo phones are being charged $10 to change their number.
Screen Shot is below:

Good things never last long do they, haven't seen that on mine yet but even when I do they'll still work with a good fowarding service.

unkown5454 11-16-2011 03:49 AM

Are we saying just PayLo or all service plans? There is a difference.

jbluntz 11-16-2011 03:54 AM

I know the top-up cards I use are PayLo and the phones are mostly the LG model can't remember if that's a PayLo phone or not, doesn't say anywhere on it.

unkown5454 11-16-2011 08:12 PM

Well, PayLo adheres more to the plan than the device. You can have any device on any plan, but any time you are just buying minutes and not paying a monthly flat fee, it's considered PayLo.

So, since less money is made on those more often than not, I could see why people using PayLo and buying random minute cards here and there would be subject to the $10 charge to help make up for the loss in monthly fees.

Try to change a number on one of your phones. See if it charges you. Then update us :)

Gman91189 11-17-2011 01:11 AM

Yea man, i just tried... 10$ to change the number! F*** this sucks, i just bought 5 smh! good thing i was going to buy 10, but they were sold out...
any other ideas on getting these numbers for cheap???
other then trackfones, which seems like a better idea then V-mobile..
any thoughts?

unkown5454 11-17-2011 03:10 AM

Boost is $5 number change, but the cheapest phone is $30 I think. Although, with Boost Mobile using the iDEN network and utilizing SIM cards, it's very easy to just get stuff on Crai.gs.list and buy the SIMs separately in bulk online or even find a local mom & pop shop that will hook you up on bulk SIMs.

Also, don't be afraid to call Virgin and ask politely for a grace on a few free number changes. It just got implemented, and most of us on here should be very experienced with BSing, thanks to EB and PP...

I have persuaded a few Boost reps to change numbers for free.

If you're making money then this shouldn't be a problem. Small things to a Giant

rsot 11-17-2011 11:41 AM

Have any of you travelled outside the States with these Pay Lo phones? I can't seem to get a signal...I would be sure that somehow they could access some kind of network outside the U.S....

Only if they have roaming agreements with an international carrier, run the same frequency, and/or software has been flashed to the new carrier if trying to run on another network permanently.

Why not save money if you can? Even the rich are doing it.

How would the phone forwarding service work when you change your number? You no longer have the number so what happens when eb*y calls?

jbluntz 11-17-2011 05:36 PM

Changing the # is for people that want to verify accounts, if you want to keep an active # then you don't need to worry about changing #.

I was the first one to break this news and some doubted it.

I got the message on all of my phone while others did not.

I would never post it if I did not get the message.

If you cannot afford 10.00 to change your number then you have a lousy business model.

I have not had to change any of my numbers yet and dont see the need to.

If you are changing numbers a lot then you are doing something mighty wrong or you are changing numbers to verify accounts and should be able to afford 10 bucks on a good potential account.

So the phone is $10+$10 for the top up card. And do the minutes you add last forever or do you have a time frame to you use them by?
