google voice for foreign mobile?
 

When I try to add my spanish mobile to google voice where it says 'Add a forwarding phone', and 'add a forwarding phone that will ring when your google voice number is called', I add mine but it says 'country of the new forwarding phone does not match the existing ones'. I assume I'm supposed to use this mobile to verify my Voice account, which is odd because it is an american IP with a foreign mobile phone number but I was hoping perhaps maybe it worked...

Is there anything I'm doing wrong or did I get it wrong when i thought i'd read somewhere Voice could forward internationally? Any alternative out there for a foreigner?

I'm surprised about this as I'd thought I'd have heard canadians complain.
