| | | | | thelizardking | 06-04-2008 08:55 PM | Vumber: eBay Phone Verification Now No Good 4/23/2009 I recently used a service called Vumber to verify my ebay account by phone.
Vumber gives you a disposable number that forwards to your phone (Virtual Phone Number). Works alot like Tossibledigits (which doesn't work w/ eBay anymore).
The service has a 30 Day Trial and $4.99 after that + $1.99 for extra numbers. So its free for 30 Days. I live in a normal size area and they had my area code. Also you can call out from your disposable number. I haven't tried it to call EB or PP but I called a couple friends and they said my disposable number was on the caller ID. You just have to create a PIN after you signup, call your number, enter your pin, then enter the number you want to call. Also has many other features.
I went to list on a 5 month old account and eBay said I have to verify my identity by phone. I changed my number in my account and had them call me. They called and asked me to hit 4 if im expecting a call, I did, then they gave me a 4 digit code (repeated 3 times) then I entered it into eBay and it went thru!
Worked Like A Charm!
If you Vant a disposable try Vumber (Modee talk)
Also they have a referral program so if anyone wants to be kind enough to send me their email address before you sign up, I will refer you and I will get credit. Thanks in advance. |
| screwedagain | 06-09-2008 05:16 AM | Did it work with Paypal as well? And did you use ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info or real info to register? thanks |
| thelizardking | 06-09-2008 01:42 PM | Didn't need to try it w/ Paypal yet but im sure it will, as far as info I guess it doesn't matter but I used real info, I use real for anything thats not EB or PP.. |
| ebaykilla | 06-09-2008 03:57 PM | nice post! thanks for the info |
| thelizardking | 06-09-2008 08:07 PM | Yep, and to add...I added a new number (Vumber) for $1.99 and verified another eBay account for listing privileges... |
| Ballsack | 06-10-2008 12:07 AM | Can't you just delete your old number without paying the additional $1.99? |
| thelizardking | 06-10-2008 12:54 AM | Yeah probably but I needed to keep the 1st number |
| pureas | 06-15-2008 11:51 AM | thanks guys, it worked. I got no sleep last night trying to get that thing to work. Thanks for everything fellas |
| screwedagain | 06-15-2008 05:15 PM | how long did you have to wait for your vumber number to get activated. I call the vumber they assigned me and a message from a guys voice says" The number is unallocated." What does this mean |
| thelizardking | 06-16-2008 12:26 AM | Mine was activated within minutes...did they call your real number to verify with a pin? |
| screwedagain | 06-16-2008 02:27 AM | is the pin the one from the vumber settings to access outgoing calls? If yes, I can't even get to that point as when i call my vumber number, it says the number is unallocated. Can you try and calll your vumber and see if your forwarded phone rings? Let me know as if yours rings then i will have to contact customer support in the morning? thanks |
| GreenBean | 06-16-2008 02:37 AM | screwed, did vumber take your phone number to verify for using them? Are you sure the account is activated? |
| ebayhateluv | 06-16-2008 05:12 AM | Good Post Lizard---EXCELLENT! :)
Once some more members verify it works for them--you should pm Aspkin, so he can include this as an alternate number in his next Update.. :)
>>THESE kind of Informative posts--are the Reason I will be around here for a long time-- This is kinda like a 12 step program, dealing with ebay/paypal--
We're always LEARNING something.. :) |
| pureas | 06-16-2008 04:03 PM | It def works, but lets keep tis on the low. Lets face it here everyone, the more people know about this, the more money we lose to competition on ebay
THANKS A MILLION FOR THE HEADS UP |
| Daoud | 06-17-2008 01:50 PM | Its not working for me.
I tried calling the Vumber with a diffrent phone and it works but when i tell ebay to call nothing happens. |
| thelizardking | 06-17-2008 02:16 PM | screwedagain-make sure that Vumber has verified the phone you are forwarding to, if your having problems pm me
daoud-so it doesn't ring at all when ebay calls??, I haven't run into that, everytime I tell ebay to call it rings about 10 seconds later...only thing I can think of is to make sure the number is entered correctly in ebay... |
| Rosanna | 06-22-2008 01:48 PM | No numbers availible in my area.... Hi guys, I tried to sign up for vumber and they don't have any numbers for my area, what is the best voip to have forwarded to a cell phone to verify a sellers account? pm me if you don't want it open, I appreciate it. |
| ebayvictim08 | 06-22-2008 06:06 PM | same they do not have the area code, can we sign up with diff. area code.
Thanks |
| thelizardking | 06-22-2008 08:47 PM | I have read on here before that if the area code is within 100 miles of the zip code it should work, I tried one about 75 miles away a few months ago and it worked. Otherwise you can make a new ebay account based on the zip code you used in Vumber... |
| thelizardking | 06-23-2008 01:39 PM | As stated above in my second post I used this for ebay but hadn't had to use it for Paypal yet...
so today I had to use it to verify a Limited Account and they said the address didn't match (eventhough the area code and zip are in the same city) luckily I can get to the address I used to get the piece of mail they are sending...so it looks like it works for ebay listing but not Paypal verification |
| ebayvictim08 | 06-23-2008 02:23 PM | now you are saying that the number must match the address, how would they know that the phone belong to that particular address. |
| greg2414 | 06-23-2008 03:29 PM | In paypal the number must match the address. Ebay you can get away with using freetollforwarding etc |
| thelizardking | 06-25-2008 12:16 AM | Not sure how they knew but they did ask specifically for a lanline, I entered this number, they said the number didn't match the address and they are sending a letter with a pin number, Originally I was limited with the wonderful "Suspicious Bank" notice. But once I confirm the location this Paypal should be good to use for a while... |
| 2jvacation | 07-10-2008 01:24 AM | I like Vumber they give you a phone number and you can add as many additinal line you want for $1.99 can't beat that. I use these number for all sorts of use. Thanks guys for letting find a good solution.:) Wish I had known about Grand central before they locked it.:( |
| 2jvacation | 07-10-2008 03:33 AM | I realized it doesn't work to well with cell phone |
| arysmith | 07-10-2008 02:04 PM | Vumbers works well for verification, probably I had is their customer service. My plan is trial and only allows 3 numbers. I want to add more. They have a business plan where you can get 50 numbers. probably is they never respond. |

I think its a good service and its cheap and has worked verifying all my ebay accounts... |
| NowWhat | 08-03-2008 09:15 PM | Vumber forwarded twice - not working I am trying to use a vumber to very eBay seller account. It is forwarded to my 866# which is forwarded to my Mexico land line. I can get it to ring my land line in Mexico but there is then just silence.
Any ideas or suggestions? Can eBay detect that it is being forwarded twice? |
| topazcorp | 08-03-2008 11:00 PM | Since you're living in Tucson wouldn't it be easier to just cross the border and buy a prepaid cell phone since they cost almost nothing? |
| NowWhat | 08-04-2008 08:21 PM | topazcorp and Modee - thanks to you both for the response.
topazcorp - I'm actually living about 100 miles inside Mexico. Most US cell phones won't work here because of some technical changes Mexico made 2-3 years ago. So whether it is a cell phone or vumber. Even the Verizon "World phone" won't work here.
Modee - All of my info with eBay shows Tucson and the vumber is Tucson area code. I use AOL for the IP.
Has no one else had this problem, that eBay will ring the redirected vumber, but then silence? |
| imthatguy | 08-05-2008 06:42 PM | Vumber will be dead and not work for Ebay within 2 week. Mark my word.. Ebay spies here |
| Mrfixxit111 | 08-13-2008 04:25 PM | Hello all!
First post. Great guide and fantastic forum.
I have a ring Central acct w/real info.
Has always worked flawlessly, until today. The automated system just flat out did not call.
No error messages from ebay, or on my end. Live chat linked me to another page to try again, still nada.
Always worked before.
Anyone else expierience this? |
| cygnusx1 | 08-20-2008 02:18 PM | I was using vumber for awhile and it worked pretty good. I used it for account just recently and all I got was static. I emailed their customer service to see what the problem was and no reply from them. So I cancelled my account, but there are always alternatives. |
| ebayblues | 08-21-2008 11:14 AM | New on here also, and first post as well. Just wanted to add that I tried to verify paypal account yesterday, which had just became limited, with vumber. Punched in the pp pin# and it failed, this is what I got from pp
" Unfortunately, you did not pass the confirm location by phone process for the following reason: Using publicly available databases, we were unable to match your address to phone number selected." I'm in the US. I had also got verifed originally with a trackfone but it failed as well on the first attempt to lift the limit. Now definite 180 day hold on 2 grand. Great forum by the way. |

Great forum by the way. | Why not try picking up a disposable pay-as-you-go cellphone.
Sorry... I just found out that tracfone is a pay-as-you-go cellphone.
Maybe you can hire Modee to help you out. |
| jerkyboy1 | 08-21-2008 10:56 PM | I agree the spies are here everywhere. It seems like everyday I get on there are 10 new members with 1 post or two posts asking questionable things as well other things which raises flags. |
| helpme1 | 08-23-2008 01:26 AM | I have used grandcentral in the past and callwave but they dont seem to work anymore for ebay or paypal verification calls. I now use a prepaid cell phone or magic jack and it works great ;) To last poster J not all of us that don't post are ebay or paypal spies but instead shy people that have had a very hard time with ebay or paypal too  I have been a member since Sep 2007 and to be truthful just do alot of reading on the site and don't do any posting until recently when I had questions for other longtime members. This site is great. |
| jerkyboy1 | 08-23-2008 02:05 AM | Hi. I was not saying anyone was a spy because they were new or had low post counts rather some people are questionable and you can see through their phony questions and because of this no important information should be given out especially in the open and only in pm to trusted members that's all. I actually do what you do on many boards instead of posting because I'm lazy but on here I feel like I should post what I know to help people and learn from others. |

| jolor | 09-07-2008 08:51 PM | hi, new to the forum stuff and trying to set up ebay after couple of suspended accounts. can i use my son's cell phone number if he is part of our family plan? i want to do this right. Vumber sounds good but wouldn't this be an easier alternative? | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 04:51 PM. | |
