Need a new number
 

This might be a silly question but can I not simply use a different sim card which has a different number and use that for Paypal verification? I'm in the UK so I cannot use Google Voice

Yes that's perfectly okay.

Yes, you can just use a new SIM card to get a new number but the only problem might be if you run multiple accounts and eBay/PayPal try to phone you... since the vast majority of phones only accept one SIM at a time of course, meaning that you could only use one SIM at a time unless you got multiple phones. So you might miss their calls to one of your inactive SIM cards.

It would work for the eBay seller account setup process but it has no part in PayPal signup process... you don't need to confirm your number to set up a PayPal account. And for verification, you just need to add your bank, confirm the small deposits they send and away you go.

Thanks guys, I've got a spare phone knocking around so I'll just leave the sim in there and keep it turned on and charge every week or so.
