having trouble with phone verification during checkout.
 

this only started happening recently. when i created an account to buy i bought some cheap items, video games, partly to get some feedback before buying another game. the cheaper purchases went through fine although they are still pending because i use echeck. but when i tried to buy the more expensive game, $500, i keep getting the phone verification request.

sometimes it is different message but still basically the same thing. after 3/4 days the account got limited but not sure what for exactly.

the account before that one i bought some gold for 550 and all went through smoothly. so i am wondering if this is random or am i making mistakes? been doing every account the same.

also i use a prepaid card and tracfone and real bank account for setup. its become really frustrating because its costing me money each time and i really need something to sellbut i buy most of my games and other electronics on fleabay.

any help appreciated.

edit, nvm i figured it out. had to get rid of cc cards connected to paypal and everything went through.

sorry for long wait. basically i tried to pay for an ipad that was $500 and a copy of little samson for nes for $550. there were also a dozen or so couple dollar items. any time i tried to pay i got the "we're going to give you a call" message. but they couldnt verify me. then i read somewhere that taking your card off paypal will enable the sale to go through.

so i tried it and it worked. then i tried it on another account and it didnt.

if only i had known sooner. now i have 2 limited paypals with $1,500 & $500 in them and pretty much 2 grand in the hole.

I've done it on newer accounts to buy .99 cent items and asked me for phone verification. I did one last week it didn't ask me for any. A few others same thing asking for the number to verify it on ebay's end.

when you pay for the item and use echeck, does PP see the name on the echeck account? do you have to make sure the source of funding (echeck) is the same name as the PP stealth?

Paypal can technically see the name of the true bank account holder on an eCheck since the receipt generated (the check itself) will show who is sending the money. Will PP act on this? Depends on the review - there are numerous cases where it has through without problems and few cases of failure resulting in limitation.

Decision is yours - I would not do this repeatedly with a stealth account

I accidentally let an echeck transfer go thru (mismatch names) and it went through successfully, its been about 2 weeks now so PP does not always suspend accont based on this action.

But I think if you repeatedly do it echeck then eventually they notice and ban you.

But I also noticed on Eb buyer accounts, esp. new ones without history then you are limited to the number of Prepaid Visa cards you can use to pay for an item. Anyone else notice this ?

Repeatedly could be an issue for eCheck - as for prepaid visa cards...no limit I see
