Tracfone problems with PP verification
 

Just tried 5 times with no luck

paypal's premium SMS for mobile number verification seems to be down

anyone else experiencing this?

are you talking about ebay? ebay is fine. I'm talking about the mobile SMS paypal uses to confirm the mobile number attached to the account. its not entirely necessary, but I like to get my PP to 100% verified

I had used the text/phone app to generate a number. I always test text it and test call it myself. It would test fine. But when I went to do my PP, the text wouldn't come through. I same as you, I like to get that full verification, like "You can trust me!" At that point I just had EB call and do the computer read off of the pin number.

So yes, I had issues with a different method of verification. I doubt it is TracFone

free phone number apps are known to not work for paypal's premium SMS

tracfones have always worked for that verification up until today.

so this may be a big biggie

Might I recommend looking at posts by DMShark25?

He has posted several times on a working phone solution.

On a dicey cell phone or would post you a link.

Off hand it is for that first call for verification as you are trying to do.

I just had one work, the rest of my 10+ I did today did not.

That's weird, I created a few accounts yesterday and one earlier today with Tracfones and had no problems receiving the code to verify the phone.

Do you have a good signal where you are? The only time I don't receive the code is if I'm in a part of my house where the signal is weak.

try to have them call you and not txting maybe that will work

One essential question. Does the tracfone name match the name on your PP stealth account?

I have never verified my PP with a mobile phone before, does this actually make a difference at all?

I find that the number you register with, is very important, so whatever service you use it doesn't matter as long it's the one you have used when you registered the account

Recently when you try and add a new bank account , paypal is giving some BS generated line like " we do not recognize the device blah blah". And I get this and I log in every single time with the same PC , same user account and often same IP

But I have had TextPlus numbers that i have used when I registered and when I added a second bank I still had that as a working number and was able to get verified

I also was able to be verified using google voice, and again it was the number that I had when I registered the account

Now on two other accounts , I no longer had access to my text plus numbers so I tried to add a new one and it would not verify it,
and to test my theory out even though I didn't have access to the TextPlus number I registered with ,
after trying the new one and being denied , I went and verified the one that was used to register the account and it gave the code,

but I had no access to that line to be able to plug the numbers in, but it shows the number that u register with should be always working

Why would you want paypal making an incoming call if you are not sure the phone is working
