Will Tracfones work for eBay verification?
 

Will Tracfones or similar prepaid phones work for verifying an eBay account? If so, will they work alone or do I need to use something else? What I've read so far has mentioned Google Voice in connection with it. Also does it matter if the name the phone is registered to is different from the name the eBay account is registered to?

I tried Tracfone for this purpose years ago and it didn't work. I was under the impression that only "real" cell phones would work for eBay verification.

P.S. Would this also work for Craigslist?

Yes they work with Paypal, I have used them.

Hi, yes tracfones alone work good for ebay and no it doesnt matter if name is registered.

Yep, they work fine. It's primarily what I use these days.

How is Tracphone about changing phone numbers? Is it like Virgin Mobile used to be - go online and do it for a small fee? Or do you need a new Sim card to be able to change the number?

Does it matter if you have for example;
A trac-phone with a west coast area code, and use it for an eB account that has an east coast zip code?

How close does the phone physical address have match it's respective eB account's registered address?

Can I use for example:
A trac phone with Los Angeles area code for a New York eB account?

most will recommend using the same ZIP registered on tracfone as the one on the account

I have had luck without zips being an exact match, but close

I don't care to try to register out-of-the-area tracfones. You should try and report back :)
