changing phone number - red flag?
 

hi guys,

i'm in the process of making a new account, and i almost have it complete, linked paypal with new bank account, got new ccard etc., but now comes the phone verification. i put a number into ebay which is in the same area code as mine, but now the phone no is dead and can't be accessed.
tollfree forwarding only offers numbers in a slightly different area code (the one nextdoor actually) which has the same postcode prefix. i have already gone on to the phone verification page, which ebay will surely have logged, but i haven't actually clicked for them to call yet. is it ok to change the number, and perhaps not delete the other phone number, and put it as my "work" number so that it's actually plausible and i am not trying to hide anything?

No use. Tollfreeforwarding are blacklisted with ebay/paypal. Need to use another service.

Ebay wants to do a phone verification. But the phone number that is getting verified is NOT getting the phone call when I do the online verify. Im not sure what is the problem.

So they give you the option to change your phone number, or call the current registered one. Anyone have experience changing it right away? Modee says red flags..which I agree with. BUT I might be out of options if for some reason the phone call is just not going through to the registered number. So..anyone done this?

I just did it, I love the old test the theory. I guess this is how everyone gets there info here. Someone has to test it out first. I had a dormant account that still had a grandcentral number attached. But I played dumb. I got on live help. (I use them a lot to play dumb). Asked what should I do about phone verification because I was using dial up. I asked if I could put in my cell phone number so I wouldn't have to disconnect because it took forever to get back on. She said yes gave me the link to change my number. I did got verified. Listed a item and it is already on ebay. So we shall see what happens. I have had accounts go down before the first listing hit and accounts that went down a few hours later an account that I had for over four months. Time will tell
