No more 5$ tracfone deal?

I used to buy these 5$ tracfones for ebay and paypal, worked like a charm. but I recently stepped into a walgreen and the deal was gone. now they cost 15$ each, I am wondering if anybody knows anywhere I can still get them at 5$ per piece? thanks.

Agreed, I'd rather buy them online and have them shipped to me then run around looking for a Walgreens

I just go to Kmart where it's like 4.99 or something like that. I like Verizon's phones better though...have better luck with them. Around $12/ea and I load $5 at a time. I hardly ever need the phone, so it works out.

Re: No more 5$ tracfone deal?

best buy runs em too from time to time. I will never buy the low end base 5 dollar ones. they suck, I bought one and even called tracfone 3 times and they couldnt get the phone activated. I basically had to throw it away as they wanted to mail me crap for the phone??? the ones on special are better 15 dollar ones for 5 bucks. I have had no problems with those. I actually found a cheap non flip 5 dollar one and it was complete garbage.

Do these $5 tracfones sold at these stores come with minutes already included or do you have to go shell out an extra $10 to add minutes to this phone.

If your getting a phone that cheap I doubt there going to give you an complementary minutes. I know you can find good deals at that discount chain Dollar General they always have them for $5.00 It's a two minutes drive from my house the smart phones r like 20...you have to buy the cards separately and if this helps you can use net10 cards on tracphone I guess there the same company maybe someone else on here has more knowledge then I do for the best pre-paid alternative.

Just read a post where these $5 deals come with 20 minutes for 60 days. Then you need to shell out $20 for 90 day service comes out to almost 7 bucks a month per account/phone. Seems quite a bit more expansive than online phone services.

Re: No more 5$ tracfone deal?

its worth the cost in the long haul.

You get a valid unused number most of the time and you can test the phone to make sure the account is solid.

If your account lasts said 60 days and you've built it up to generate income then placing another $20 for another 90 days is a walk in the park.

If the account goes down within that time, then you just have a throw away phone. ;)

I was at my local Kroger yesterday and saw $5 tracfones. I'm going to buy a few today actually. Seems the deal comes and goes...just as long as it keeps coming back...lol

Was wondering how long it would take for this to catch on.

Without prime shipping I always get these 2 days after ordering, and I'm over 700 miles from where they come from for me(Chattanooga, TN).

They don't stay at that price very long, and it's often months before you see that price again. I have about 500 spares sitting in my garage waiting to be activated.

Beware that these do NOT work for PP in most cases(code never comes through). Fine for EB.

What would be the point using these if they don't work for both platforms? Spend $10 and verify both

Any disadvantages for not verifying paypal mobile?

I've personally not found it necessary.

Your mileage may vary.

It's not necessary.

The important thing is providing Paypal with a valid phone number during signup that you will have access to, which Tracfones (and any prepaid phone) works great for.

The only advantage you get for confirming Paypal mobile is an extra 20% completion percentage in your profile. I don't bother with it, especially since it's a toss up as to whether or not the text even comes through for the models I use.

Just found another 5 dollar Tracfone Amazon deal.

4.99 free shipping (NOT Prime!) So it's free whether or not you have Prime. :)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...EEXI5J7OA56B2D

Just bought 5 myself...reviews say it comes with 300 minutes (fingers crossed!)

Check if they have Blue Sim cards. I've noticed blue sims dont receive Paypal code.
to verify Paypal code is more important than anything.

Re: No more 5$ tracfone deal?

The FAQ shows it uses a GSM Sim Card & comes with 10 free minutes. Can GSM cards be used to verify paypal?

"Hello,
Thank you for your interest in our item. Unfortunately this item does not come with minutes. You must contact Net10 directly to activate the device. Any additional questions please let us know."

This is the message I got from the seller.

Do what Stringer Bell did in the wheel and pay a guy to drive all over the state and buy them at different spots. You never know when ebay is watching lol

Re: No more 5$ tracfone deal?

The Net10 EM326g comes with 10 minutes.

Honestly it's my least favorite phone out of all of the ones that I've used.

I bought around 50 of them in the past and about 90% of them needed to be charged for a bit before use (not a huge deal, but still can be annoying when you're trying to create accounts). And Net10's plans are really expensive compared to Tracfone (which is funny because Tracfone owns Net10). For example, $100 on Tracfone gets you a year of service whereas the same price only gets you 180 days for Net10.

I would only use them if no other similar priced Tracfones were available.

Re: No more 5$ tracfone deal?

Ok, so for those of you looking for these awesome tracfones at $4.99

Target has put them back on sale (LG 440G and Samsung S150G)
Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile continue to have them on sale (LG 440G)
Kroger (local grocery store) also continues to have them on sale (LG 440G and Alcatel A206G)
Home Depot also has them (LG 440G)

All these will have 60 days of service and 20 free minutes, unless you have to call in due to errors, then you only get 10 minutes.
