tracfone sent me to a live rep who refused to change the number
 

brand new tracfone i started using this morning. already had 6 accounts completed with a new number for each account. then i get jiffed on a brand new phone.

usually im able to spend half the minutes before this happens. is there anything i can do?

and what about alternatives? i just read about scratchwireless. are they any good?

i just called them yesterday on this..

new policy (as of a week ago or less) is 4 number changes a month max

scratchwireless looks like they use google voice numbers, which is not good

You need to maintain or keep a number alive for the life of an account anyways.

If you can get 5 new phone numbers for $5.....that is a still a good deal

I don't understand why people don't like google voice numbers.

The implication is they continually get recycled, but it's simply not true.

I have several 5 yr old google voice numbers from old ebay accounts. I checked and I still have them, so I'm going to use them on amazon (why would I use a tracfone over a number thats been pristine for 5 years?)

Tracfones get recycled all the time, though mainly be drug dealers and not ebay/amazon people. But still, why the negativity toward google voice?

Google Voice can lead to 0/0 and other problems with ebay accounts. Not worth the risk to most people.

How do you change the # more than 4 times?

I've been using Tracfones to create accounts since April and I've ALWAYS been limited to 4 # changes "per year".

Also, to the person who asked about GV. As Speeder said, it leads to 0/0 when CREATING accounts. But once you've created it, change the "registration" # to GV and there's no issue.

yeah ive always been limited to 4 changes on tracfone probably cause i call the number instead of using the website



Can use it but it often leads to 0/0 limits on ebay

Weird....I always use the website, and I've never called customer service. And I've always received an error message when trying to change the # for the 5th time.

Quick question about google voice in conjuction with tracfone. I know google voice always gets you 0/0 at this point when registering an account but is it possible to add it as a second number down the road? Thus allowing the tracfone to expire or to change the number?

As I said several times....registration info can be changed.

Thousands of people change their phone numbers any given week...yes, you can change your Tracfone to GV after creating the account.

I miss the days where I can changed the # as much as I want. Now are you are limited with 4 changes.

this is the number i call. 1-800-867-7183 used to be able to change number dozens of times. i even used up all 20 minutes at .3 minutes per account. now the max you can get is 12 accounts but they will be linked by phone number.

also i pay $10 for tracs at walmart/meijer. i have gotten them for 3.99 once. big lots near me doesnt have them. maybe i can ask for them.

Try Family Dollar. They have Tracfones sales almost every week.

Also, BestBuy often has a specific model of $5 Tracfone as well. Give your local store a call, they probably have them in stock.

Sometimes you can find those tracphones selling on ebay for 4.99 each. I once saw that and bought so many that I still have them 1 year later.

literally thousands of prepaid companies exist in USA and in multiple languages. New ones pop up every year.

so many on this forum got the tracfone tunnel vision. this is why you come on forum and cry about "where all da numberz at"

Tracfones are plentiful and cheap.

If you have alternatives you'd like to share, feel free. Otherwise, I don't see your point.

i don't need to share. just go to store or search online. if trac works for you, that's fine. im talking about those who see trac as the only option and complain about it. i've never used a trac in my entire stea/lth life. i use other companies not even talked about on this forum and i'm lovin it like MacD's
