I know some of you have had issues with certain models of Tracfones, and this isn't one I normally find for 4.99 on sale, so stock up gentlemen!

The ones that I know for sure work are the LG 305c, which does not have a SIM card and the LG 306g, which DOES have a SIM card - but I have never seen them with anything other than black printing.

The LG 440's could have either, but are mostly the blue printed ones, which do not work to receive the 6 digit short code messages. Same thing with the Samsung s150g. And those are the two most common ones that end up on sale for $5, at least in my area.

I have some Alcatel A205g's with the black ones, but I am told that many of those have the blue printed SIMS.

I don't have a Kroger anywhere near me, but at the moment I have 65 Tracfones in stock. So I'm good for at least a week!

bought A206 at target last week. It can receive call from ebay and text from paypal, so it is good to use.

So the deal might be for the phone, so keep a look out for it anywhere you go.

I know the Kroger deal is good until October 6th, so no rush on it.

Thanks. Just bought the last 6 of these Alcatel A206G for $5 each. Anyone still receiving calls and text from eBay and PayPal? There's a 14 day return policy, in case it doesn't work!

If they have something at Kroger and there is not one in your area, you might try Meijer. They don't ALWAYS have the same items or sales, but a lot of times they do.

Just a quick update guys:

I was grocery shopping again last night, and found they exteneded the sale another 3 months. From this, I'm guessing this MIGHT be a "permanent" sale. Add Kroger to your list of retailers offering 4.99 Tracfones! :)

I have gone to multiple Krogers in my area and I have found that there is usually about 3 different tracfones that Kroger carries for $4.99. Just wish they werent sticklers about the "Limit 2". And I agree that this sales seems permanent.

You're lucky. My local Kroger only offers this one. Of course, there are several in my area, and I haven't checked.

Have you tried going in the middle of the night? The one in my neighborhood is 24/7, and the night clerks generally don't care about the "rules". My girl loves to coupon and she had issues with the day staff, but at night, no one pays any attention.

THey come with 20 min if you register them on the website, 10 min if you do over the phone. I can confirm this since I am doing accounts right now. The 1st one I did was over the phone, the 2nd one was on the website. I have the lg 305 model, I bought them on Amazon.

It looks like the 440G is getting discontinued. I cannot find them in stores. On bestbuy.com, they are clearanced for $3.99. In the best buy stores, they are now selling the alcatel for $4.99. But both phones have worked good for me.
