Google voice Using out of state number?

I've tried three different tracfone's none will receive the paypal text. For my first account I just made a google voice and put the voice number on paypal and cell on ebay, but now I can't get a local google voice number. So will paypal freak if they see a a number with a california area code on an account that's address is in georgia?

Not all Tracfones work for receiving 6 digit short codes. Open the back of the phone. If the phone has a white SIM card with BLUE printing, it will NOT receive the codes. If it has a white SIM card with BLACK printing, then it WILL receive the codes.

If you need to, keep your non-working tracfone with the stealth area code on file with PayPal and add the GV number as secondary. Verify the secondary number.

What if the secondary number comes from out of state? GV doesnt offer any more numbers in my area

Well, I wouldn't say they are USELESS, but yes. I don't see another way, except for what I posted above. Unfortunately, there is no way - that I know of - to tell which Tracfones will or won't work until you open the package. Two models that almost always work are the LG 305c and the LG 306g - but those models are not usually the ones on sale for $5.

That is why I recommend keeping the Tracfone number with the correct are a code on file with PayPal.

None of this is absolutely necessary, but it could put you in a sticky situation if PayPal wants to text you a code and gives you no other options.

Ive used out of state GV numbers before without an issue. I try to make sure theyre in the neighboring state though.
